A native of Robesonia and a 1980 graduate of Conrad Weisner High School, All-American Wayne Blatt lettered in track and field four years.
Blatt, Class of 1985, was an All-American in track and field for the Red Raiders. He helped Shippensburg win the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) team titles in 1982 and 1984.
Blatt won the PSAC 110 high hurdles championship in 1981 and 1984 and was runner up in 1982 and 1983. He also was the high jump champion in 1983 and 1984. He was fourth in 1981 and second in 1982. He earned All-American honors in the high jump in 1984 by finishing fourth with a leap of 7-1, setting the Shippensburg University team record in that event. He also finished ninth in the high hurdles. Blatt broke school records in both of those events with 7-1 in the high jump and 14.26 in the 110 meter high hurdles.
Blatt was the first Shippensburg athlete to ever clear seven feet in the high jump. He set the outdoor record with a leap of 6-10 during his freshman year. He tied that record in 1983. In the winter of 1984, Blatt jumped 7-0 to set a new indoor record. He then cleared 7-0 during the outdoor season and set the school record of 7-1 at the NCAA Division II national championships.
After graduating Blatt became a restaurant manager with Host Marriott Services.
