Chuck Davis is SU’s all-time leading scorer in men’s basketball history with 1,825 points and also school-record holder for career steals with 203. In four seasons with the Raiders, Davis helped the team to a record 69 wins.
A three-time All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) First Team selection, Davis became the first player in school history to earn conference Player of the Year honors, as he was named PSAC Western Division Player of the Year as a junior in 2005-06. Davis was also selected to the Daktronics All-East Region First Team and recognized as an Honorable Mention All-American by Division II Bulletin. He averaged a career-best 19.5 points and also led the team with 5.1 rebounds per game. Davis finished among the Top 5 players in the PSAC in scoring and tallied a career-high 39 points in a win over Ohio Valley University.
The 2005-06 Raiders won a school-record 24 games, won the PSAC Western Division with an 11-1 record, reached the PSAC Championship game, and appeared in the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in school history and the first time since 1990-91.
As a senior in 2006-07, a season in which Shippensburg reached the PSAC Quarterfinals, Davis was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-East Region First Team, Daktronics All-East Region First Team and All-PSAC Western Division First Team after leading the Raiders in scoring with 17.4 points per game and with 73 steals. Davis ranked fourth in the PSAC in scoring and third in steals. He totaled 538 points, the seventh-best single-season scoring performance in school history, and became the first player at Shippensburg to total two 500-point seasons.
In his sophomore season, a year in which Shippensburg reached the PSAC Quarterfinals and posted an 11-1 home record, Davis led the Raiders with 17 points per game. He earned the first of his three straight All-PSAC Western Division First Team awards, posting career bests with 75 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game.
Davis capped off his career playing with the best players in Division II in the NCAA/NABC All-Star Game. After earning his sociology degree in 2007, Davis pursued a professional basketball career playing overseas in Turkey and also in the NBA Development League with the Colorado 14ers. He has worked in the mental health field, working with adolescents and adults with mental health and chemical dependency disorders, including a role as a case manager at Roxbury Treatment Center.
In 2015, Davis returned to campus to study for a master’s degree in the Organizational Development and Leadership Program for Higher Education Structure and Policy. He is set to enter his third season as an assistant coach with the SU Men’s Basketball team while also working as a graduate assistant with the Academic Success Program (ASP).
Davis is engaged to his longtime girlfriend Amber Quivers ’07/’17M, and the couple is set to be married in the summer of 2018. Upon receiving his master’s degree, Davis aspires to pursue a career as an administrator in a university setting.
