Hall of Fame
For 32 years, Alosi was the sports information director at Shippensburg from 1972-2004.
Alosi handled publicity for the PSAC for baseball for 10 years and also served brief stints as the conference SID for soccer and basketball in the 1970’s. He also served as president (1998-2000) and vice-president (1996-98) of the PSAC sports information directors.
At Shippensburg, Alosi was the host SID for numerous NCAA regional and PSAC championship events and tournaments. In 1979, he aided in the production of one of ESPN's earliest broadcasts when Shippensburg played Slippery Rock University in Ann Arbor, Michigan, before 61,000 fans at Michigan Stadium.
During his tenure at Shippensburg, Alosi earned eight CoSIDA publication awards, including best in the nation for women’s lacrosse in 1993. He also attended 13 CoSIDA conventions.
In 2005, Alosi received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), presented to CoSIDA members who have served at least 25 years in the profession and who are retiring or leaving the profession. Alosi was nominated by the late Pete Nevins, legendary sports information director at East Stroudsburg for 33 years.
Alosi is a native of Coopersburg and a 1969 graduate of LaSalle where he earned his bachelor's degree in history. Following graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from January 1970 to April 1971 as an information specialist with the 5th Battalion, 42nd Artillery.
While working at Shippensburg, Alosi earned a master's degree in history in 1994 and in 2001, he published the book, “Shadow of Freedom,” a study of the institution of slavery in rural Pennsylvania during the post-revolutionary period from 1780 to 1810 and the impact of the state Abolition Act of 1780.
Alosi still assists the sports information office at Shippensburg during his retirement while also continuing to pursue writing projects and traveling across the United States and Europe. He and his wife, Lynn, have two grown children, Matthew and Andrew.
