Hall of Fame
Lee McClintock was a dominant pitcher for the SU baseball team from 2001-05 who graduated with, and still maintains, Shippensburg’s career records for pitching wins (28) and innings pitched (285.0). Among his other school records include 43 career starts and a miniscule 1.61 walks per nine innings. His career also included eight complete-game shutouts.
McClintock was both durable and consistent – throwing 70 or more innings in each of his final three seasons. He ranks third in school history with 241 career strikeouts, and during a stretch of play spanning his sophomore and junior seasons, McClintock went 15-1 on the mound.
Spanning his final three seasons, Shippensburg went 106-59 overall, winning the PSAC Championship in 2003 and setting a single-season school record for wins in 2004 (43). SU made the NCAA Tournament in 2003 and 2004 under head coach Bruce Peddie. In each of his final three seasons, McClintock was named to the All-PSAC Western Division First Team as a starting pitcher.
As a senior in 2005, McClintock threw 81.1 innings and walked just 10 batters – striking out 72 batters and pitching to a career-best 2.32 ERA. In his second start of the season, McClintock threw a nine-inning complete game, scattering two unearned runs while striking out nine. Other notable outings included a seven-inning shutout of Millersville in which he struck out 10, and a seven-inning shutout of Lock Haven in which he struck out 11.
During his junior season in 2004, McClintock was 8-4 with a 3.74 ERA. In his sophomore season in 2003, McClintock threw a career-high 87 innings and won a career-high 10 games, working to an impressive 2.69 ERA. In Shippensburg’s opening game of the NCAA Tournament, McClintock threw a nine-inning shutout, blanking West Chester while allowing just four hits and one walk in a 4-0 victory. McClintock also had a complete-game win at Eckerd in which he threw nine innings and allowed just two runs while striking out a then-career high nine batters.
McClintock graduated in 2005 with a degree in business management. While on campus, McClintock was active in Christian Fellowship, along with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and the University Bible Fellowship.
After graduation, McClintock has worked for the U.S. Government for the last 18 years. He is currently employed as a Logistics Management Specialist for the Naval Supply Systems Command based in Mechanicsburg. Outside of work, McClintock is active in his community as a Sunday School teacher, assistant youth group leader and a girls softball coach.
McClintock is married to his wife Megan (Keener) McClintock, a 2008 SU graduate who was a member of the field hockey team. The couple are the proud parents of three children: two daughters and one son, and currently reside in Elizabethtown.
