Glenn Burket was the first Shippensburg University wrestler to gain All-American status at the NCAA Division I level. He was the highest finisher ever for Shippensburg at the National tournament taking 5th place at 126 pounds.
During his career Burket was a four-time place winner at the Pennsylvania Conference Championships. He finished sixth at 118 pounds in 1975, fourth at 126 in 1976, second in 1977 and first in 1978. He also won the NCAA Division I Eastern Regional title three years in a row, the only Shippensburg wrestler to accomplish that feat.
Burket was the first Shippensburg wrestler to win 100 matches and his career record 120 wins was not broken until 1985.
Following graduation, Burket served as a graduate assistant coach at Clemson University in 1979 and then returned to Shippensburg as a graduate assistant coach in 1980 and 1981. He then became an assistant wrestling coach in the Bedford School District where he also worked as a Basic computer instructor.
