Hall of Fame
Tunisia Lacy Lumpkin is one of the best female athletes in school history in any sport. She transferred to Shippensburg as a sophomore and had an unprecedented level of success in her three-year career with the Raiders.
Lumpkin was a five-time NCAA All-American in the triple jump and a 14-time PSAC Champion, winning all three years she competed outdoors in both the long jump and triple jump. She placed 19 times at the PSAC Championships in three years, finishing first or second 18 times. At the PSAC Outdoor Championships, Lumpkin competed a total of six times in the long jump and triple jump and never lost.
She also graduated with six school records – indoor triple jump (39' 8 ¾"), indoor long jump (18' 10"), indoor 55-meter hurdles (8.16), outdoor triple jump (42' 5"), outdoor long jump (19' 7 ¾") and outdoor 100-meter hurdles (14.30). She also helped set a school record with the outdoor 4x100-meter relay (Yerokun, Slaughter, Riccardo, Lacy – 48.11 – 2004). Four of those records are still on the books despite SU’s incredible run of dominance over the last 10 years.
Her outdoor triple jump performance of 42 feet, 5 inches as a sophomore at the PSAC Championships remains a conference all-time record to this day. She was named the 2005 PSAC Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year and the 2005 PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year as a senior, earning indoor and outdoor All-America honors in the triple jump while winning six PSAC titles – the long jump, triple jump and high hurdles in both seasons.
SU’s current head coach, Dave Osanitsch, said that Tunisia is the most talented female athlete he has ever coached.
Lumpkin graduated from Shippensburg in 2005 with a degree in Speech Communication. She went on to coach at Bowie State following her graduation and annually assists Shippensburg every year as an official and worker at the annual home meet (Paul Kaiser Classic).
Shortly after graduating from Shippensburg, Tunisia decided to move to Baltimore. She then met her husband of almost seven years, Darius Lumpkin. They have two children together; Trinity, 7, and Tarren, 3. Lumpkin currently works as a Disability Examiner for Social Security Administration.
In 2009, she received her Master of Arts in Organizational Communication from Bowie State University.
