MIKESIC SYNOPSIS:
· 3-Time All-PSAC Western Division Selection (’99 [2nd], ’00 [2nd], ’01 [1st])
· 2001 NCAA Division II East Region All-Tournament Team selection
· 1999 PSAC Tournament MVP

Vickie Mikesic was a four-year regular and PSAC Scholar-Athlete on the Shippensburg University women’s basketball squad from 1997-2001 that posted a 105-21 record and won four consecutive conference championships and two NCAA regional championships.

Mikesic’s niche was her passing. She is the Shippensburg University record holder with 575 career assists – an average of 4.6 per game. Her 126 games played ties her with fellow inductee Christa Cline for the second-most in SU history. Mikesic also holds the single-game assists record with 15 in a victory over Lock Haven in January of 2001.

She also racked up steals – and ranks second in school history with 346 for her career. Overall, Mikesic scored 1,399 points – an average of 11.1 per game. Her 328 free throws ranks eighth in school history while her 117 three-pointers slots her 10th in school history.

As a freshman, Mikesic averaged 7.7 points per game and scored in double figures 12 times. Her most memorable shot of the season came in the PSAC championship game when she hit a shot at the buzzer that tied the game and sent it into overtime. SU eventually won the game, 83-80.

Mikesic began her streak of three consecutive All-PSAC seasons in 1998-99 with a second-team nod after averaging 13.1 points per game. She led the Lady Raiders with 136 assists, 37 three-pointers and free-throw percentage of 79.8. Her postseason prowess resulted in being named the MVP of the PSAC Tournament after a 28-point performance against IUP and a 26-point, 10-steal effort in a comeback victory over California (Pa.).

As a junior, Mikesic matched her points per game average from the season before and set a new career high with 170 assists. She scored in double figures 21 times during the 1999-2000 season, including 27 points in the conference semifinals. Her 85 steals ranked second on the team and fourth in the PSAC.

Mikesic is the only player in school history to post triple digits in points, rebounds, assists and steals in one season. Named the team MVP after her senior season, Mikesic finished the year with 352 points, an average of 10.7 per game, along with 144 rebounds, 195 assists and 102 steals. She continued to produce in the playoffs, scoring 24 points in the conference semifinals and 16 points in the Elite Eight victory over Delta State.

A native of Hollidaysburg, Mikesic majored in finance at Shippensburg. After her graduation, she married Matt Arbogast – who serves in the United States Army. The Arbogasts lived in Louisiana, Virginia and Alaska before moving to their current home in Hawaii. The couple has four children: Josey, Marek, Veronica and Keegan. Arbogast worked as a role player for military training and as a bookkeeper for a non-profit insurance company prior to having children.
