Heather Bankert Rosenberg was a three-time All-PSAC and All-Region first baseman for the Shippensburg University softball team who ranks among SU’s all-time leaders in several offensive categories.

Bankert wasted no time making an immediate impact with the program, hitting .413 as a freshman with nine doubles, 19 RBIs and 33 runs. It led to the first of her two All-PSAC First Team and NFCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region accolades. SU finished second in the region in 1997.

During her sophomore season of 1998, Bankert hit .352 while leading the team in hits and runs scored. In the field, she put together a streak of 43 consecutive games without an error. It resulted in NFCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team honors.

As a junior, Bankert served as a co-captain and set a school record with 76 hits in one season. She also became SU’s all-time leader in hits and runs scored with one season still to play. Her performance resulted in an All-PSAC Second Team selection and another regional tournament appearance for the team.

Bankert impressed once again as a senior, hitting .338 in 45 games. Despite having no home runs in her first three seasons, Bankert slugged four during her senior year to complement 21 RBIs. She also stole a career-high three bases. She picked up her second All-PSAC and NFCA All-Region First Team honors following the season

A native of Clifton, Virginia, Bankert currently ranks third in school history for career runs scored (154), third in career hits (249), fourth in career doubles (39), and fifth in career batting average (.372).

After graduation, Bankert returned to her native Virginia and began working in the criminal justice field as a youth counselor. She met her husband Chris there, and they were married in 2001.  The couple has two daughters: Caitlin and Brooke.

The family resides in Winchester, Virginia. Heather has been employed with the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Juvenile Probation Officer for 9 ½ years. In addition, she also served as the assistant varsity softball coach for Loudoun Valley High School for four years.  She and her husband are currently spearheading the SibStrong program for Childrens National Medical Center to provide ongoing, targeted support to an often unrecognized survivor population, siblings of children battling cancer.
