Kim was one of the finest female athletes to ever compete at Shippensburg. She was an All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference player in two sports, volleyball and softball

 

In volleyball, at the time of her graduation, she held the university records for kills in a career (804), and digs in a game (8), a season (150), and career (237). Se had the highest attack percentage in a season with .311, a mark she set in 1984. Her single season total of 305 kills in 1984 is one of the highest in university history.

 

As a freshman in the fall of 1983, Bedford led the team in attack percentage with .246. The following season she led the team in attack percentage (.311), kills (305), and was co-leader in service aces (67). In 1985 Bedford led the team in digs (48) and service aces (54) and had 197 kills, second highest on the team. In 1986, she led the team in digs (150), service aces (44) and kills .257, 171 service aces, 237 digs, 57 solo blocks, and 97 block assists. She was MVP in 1984, co-MVP in 1985, and MVP again in 1986.

 

In softball, Kim set the single season records for homers (9) and slugging percentage (.831). In 1987 she was All-PSAC shortstop and held the single season record for triples (6), RBI (35) and single season batting average (.430), one of the highest batting averages in university history.

 

Bedford’s career slugging percentage of .631 was the highest mark in team annals. At the time she graduated she held career records for runs scored (90), triples (16), homers (15), RBI (96), and slugging percentage.

 

Bedford, a native of Canton, Pennsylvania in Bradford County, became a a logistics support manager for IBM in Mechanicsburg after her graduation.
