Hall of Fame
Keri Hopkins Gehring is one of the top offensive players in the history of Shippensburg University Lacrosse. She is one of only two players in school history (along with SU Hall of Famer Courtney Colbert) to earn Intercollegiate Womens Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America honors in all four of her seasons, and one of just 12 players in school history to earn three or more All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) classifications.
Her 167 career goals and 230 career points currently rank third in school history, while her 63 career assists rank fifth in school history.
As a sophomore in 1999, Gehring scored a career-high 52 goals and totaled a career-high 65 points, both of which are tied for 10th most in single-season school history. She is one of 14 players in school history with a 50-goal season. As a senior in 2001, she led the team with 55 points and recorded a career-high 24 assists, which is tied for 11th most in a single season by a Raider.
She recorded at least 30 goals, 10 assists, and 40 points in all four of her collegiate seasons as an attacker. Her 167 career goals are tied for 32nd in PSAC history.
Shippensburg posted a 19-11 record in her first two seasons while coached by Deb Tweed, and a 14-14-1 record in her final two seasons while coached by Bertie Landes.
In addition to her athletic career, Gehring was a summer camp counselor and a work-study student. She graduated from Shippensburg in 2001 with a degree in speech communication.
Following her time at Shippensburg, Gehring pursued further education, obtaining certifications and a master’s degree in education from Cabrini University.
Gehring is a dedicated high school educator at Bucks County Technical High School, where she initiated the Child Development and Early Learning program. Prior to joining BCTHS, she began her teaching journey at the Chester County Intermediate Unit, where she spent a decade enriching the lives of at-risk children through their Head Start program and piloting the first preschool inclusion program.
Outside of her career, Gehring is married to her husband, Rich, and finds joy in motherhood, cherishing her two sons, DJ and Ryan Gehring.
