It went undefeated in 1949, lost once in 1950, and went undefeated in 1951. Kauffman played forward and the number two scorer on the team. She averaged 12.2 points her senior year when the team went 8-0. She had career a high of 21 points against Lebanon Valley in 1949.

Kauffman also was a stellar field hockey player. She helped Shippensburg gain an invitation to the Middle Atlantic All-College Hockey tournament in 1949. She was the first Shippensburg player ever selected for the Middle Atlantic All-College team. That all-star team included players from Temple and Penn. In 1950 Kauffman was a Central Penn All-Star.

Following graduation Kauffman taught English in the Chambersburg School District and the Tuscarora School District. She was field hockey coach at Scotland School for Veterans Children one season and later coached basketball at James Buchannan High School. She retired from the Turscarora district in 1981 and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. She remained active serving as a volunteer coach and official at a girls club in Scottsdale.
