Jamie Thomas is one of the top lightweights in the history of Shippensburg University wrestling. The 125-pound wrestler, who came to Shippensburg as a walk-on, is one of just three Raiders in history to finish as a three-time All-American and achieved 66 career victories in just three seasons (2004-06).
Everything came together for Thomas as a senior in the 2005-06 season, a campaign that concluded with him as the national runner-up at 125 pounds. Thomas posted a 29-9 record, with four pins, four major decisions and one tech fall. He enjoyed a streak of 18 consecutive victories, which included a 125-pound East Region title. The streak ended in the 125-pound finals at the 2006 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships.
His performance helped the Raiders to a third-place team finish at the NCAA Championships, the highest-ever finish in the program’s history, and his win total is tied for 13th most in a single season in program history.
In his junior season, Thomas posted a 17-10 record with two pins and four major decisions. He placed third at the 2005 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Wrestling Championships, fourth at regionals and sixth at NCAAs.
After redshirting as a freshman, Thomas burst onto the scene as a sophomore, compiling a 20-10 record to go with four pins. He qualified for nationals with a third-place finish at the 2004 NCAA East Region Championships and earned fourth place and an All-American distinction in his first trip to the NCAA Division II National Championships.
Thomas contributed to 29 dual meet victories in his three seasons, including 11 in 2003-04 and 2005-06.
