Caitlin Stuetz Brimmer is the most decorated hurdler in the storied history of SU Women’s Track & Field, having completed her career as a two-time NCAA outdoor qualifier in the 400-meter hurdles (earning All-America honors as a senior) and seven-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Champion in hurdle events while setting SU's school records in all three major hurdle events.
From 2010-13, Shippensburg won all eight PSAC team championships (four indoors, four outdoors). As a senior in 2013, Brimmer was named the PSAC Outdoor Championships Most Valuable Track Athlete and Most Valuable Athlete MVP for winning the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles and contributing to the victorious 4x400-meter relay.
Overall, Brimmer was a 16-time PSAC Championships place winner (13 achieved as an individual, three with relays), an 11-time All-PSAC (Top 3) performer, and an eight-time PSAC champion (three times in outdoor 100 hurdles, two times in outdoor 400 hurdles, two times in indoor 60 hurdles, once with outdoor 4x4 relay).
Brimmer’s personal best times of 14.07 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, 1:00.11 in the 400-meter hurdles and 8.61 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles rank second, first and second in school history to this day.
Following graduation, Brimmer remained in competitive shape with Team USA, serving as the Bobsled Brakeman of the first All-Women’s four-man
bobsled in international competition in 2014. Brimmer shifted to training and competing for the US Developmental Skeleton team from 2014- 2016, contributing to a 16th place finish at US Skeleton Nationals in 2016. She also coached her grandmother (Betty Leander) to three consecutive first-place finishes among women in the 75-years-and-older section of the 100 meters at Penn Relays from 2016-18.
Brimmer earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise science and a minor in coaching from Shippensburg in 2013. She later earned her master’s degree from East Stroudsburg University while serving as a graduate assistant strength & conditioning coach for the Warriors.
Professionally, Brimmer is a health & physical education teacher (grades K-8) in the school district of Philadelphia. She has coached track & field and running clubs for levels ranging from grade school through college, and also done work with Paralympic and adaptive sports programs.
Brimmer and her husband are the proud parents of a young daughter, Lucy Caroline.
