Tor Hotham of Wallingford, Class of 1988, was an All-America soccer player who led the Red Raiders to four double-digit victory seasons. At the time of his graduation he held the team career record for assists.
A midfielder, Hotham came to Shippensburg in the fall of 1984 from Warminster and William Tennant High School. He made a big impact with the team his first season by leading the Red Raiders in goals with six and assists with four. The Red Raiders finished the year with an 11-5-1 record.
The following season he made five goals and five assists and the Red Raiders went 11-4-1. Hotham earned first team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and first team All-America honors. In 1986 Hotham led the team in goals with nine and assists with five as the Red Raiders went 11-3-2. He was first team All-America and all-conference again.
In 1987 Hotham had five goals and six assists. He fell one assist shy of the Shippensburg single season record at the time of seven. The Red Raiders set a school record for victories as they went 12-3-1. Hotham was first team all-conference and all-region for the third year in a row.
Hotham finished his career with 25 goals and 19 assists. He led Shippensburg in assists all four years. It also marked the only time in history that the Red Raiders won 10 games or more four years in a row.
During the 1980s the PSAC format for the championship was limited to two teams with the Eastern and Western Division meeting each other. Had the current playoff format been in force Shippensburg would have played the conference tournament all four years.
Hotham was also a standout in the classroom. In 1986 he was named first team Adidas Scholar Athlete. He was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma National Business Honor Society.
Following graduation Hotham earned a MBA degree at Bloomsburg and has enjoyed a successful career as a financial advisor. He became a managing partner for his own firm, Caliber Wealth Management Group in West Chester.
