Jessie Gordon was an All-PSAC Western Division First Team forward for the SU women’s basketball team who played an integral role on NCAA tournament teams in 2000-01 and 2001-02.

In the two seasons Gordon was a member of the team, SU went 48-14 – qualifying for the NCAA Tournament each year. SU went 28-5 in 2000-01, won the PSAC title and reached the NCAA semifinals.

Gordon earned All-PSAC West First Team honors as a senior by averaging a team-high 16.8 points per game and ranking second on the squad with a career-best 9.5 rebounds per game. She scored 487 points and collected 275 rebounds – posting 13 double-doubles and scoring in double figures in 26 of 29 games.

As a junior, Gordon averaged 11.9 points per game (third on the team) and led all starters with 8.0 rebounds per game. She shot 49.5 percent from the field and was named to the NCAA Division II All-Tournament Team for her outstanding play in the postseason. Gordon scored a career-high 24 points and had nine rebounds in a national semi-final loss to North Dakota. She had seven double-doubles during the season, including two in the PSAC Tournament.

Gordon totaled 881 points (14.2 ppg) and 538 rebounds (8.7 rpg) in just two seasons with Shippensburg. She was also an accurate shooter at the free-throw line, making 157-of-211 (74.4%). That career proficiency ranks eighth in school history. Gordon’s 8.7 rebounds per game ranks fourth in school history.

Despite her presence as a post player, Gordon also displayed a knack for the three-point shot. Gordon was 22-of-52 from behind the line as a senior, making 42 percent of her three-pointers.

Including her two years as a starter at Division I Towson, Gordon completed her four-year collegiate playing career with 1,462 points (12.4 ppg), 903 rebounds (7.7 rpg) and was a 47.7 percent shooter (601-of-1259) and was 75.3 percent at the free-throw line (238-of-316).

Upon graduation, Gordon served one year as an SU assistant coach and later earned a Master’s degree in school and guidance counseling from Shippensburg in 2006.

Gordon lives in her hometown of Williamsburg and is currently an assistant junior high school girls basketball coach for Claysburg-Kimmel High School.
