Mike Harris, a 2009 AFCA All-American wide receiver and the 2009 PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Year, finished as the second Red Raider and 14th player in PSAC history to achieve 3,000 receiving yards in a career. Harris also finished his career with the school record for most career games with a touchdown reception (20).

After a productive season as a true freshman in 2005 and a redshirt season to rehabilitate an injury in 2006, Harris earned All-PSAC First Team classifications in each of his final three seasons as a wide receiver. His 3,000 career receiving yards and 197 career receptions still rank third in school history, while his 25 career receiving touchdowns currently rank fourth in school history.

His banner senior season in 2009, a 9-3 campaign in which Shippensburg won the PSAC ‘State Game’ over California and reached the second round of the NCAA playoffs, included 62 receptions, 1,018 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Harris exceeded 100 receiving yards in four games, including 70 or more receiving yards in eight of the first nine games of the season. His nine-catch, 147-yard performance at Bloomsburg helped SU defeat the No. 3-ranked Huskies, 28-27. Harris was a Harlon Hill Trophy regional finalist who received an invitation to play in the 2010 Valero Cactus Bowl – the NCAA Division II football “All-Star” game.

As a junior in 2008, Harris became just the second player in school history to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in a season, totaling a career-high 66 receptions for 1,014 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. At the time, Harris and Jamie Ware were the only men to achieve the feat, and each did so in back-to-back seasons. Harris set single-game career bests as a junior with 10 receptions in a home win over Millersville and 172 receiving yards in a road game at Kutztown.

To this day, Harris remains one of just three wide receivers in school history with multiple 10-touchdown seasons along with Ware and Trevor Harman.

Harris’ production was mostly unparalleled and was achieved before the evolution to the modern spread offense that came about in the 2010s. He averaged 15.2 yards per reception over the course of nearly 200 catches. He also compiled more than 300 punt return yards in his career.

After earning his undergraduate degree in criminal justice, Harris joined the police force. He previously worked with the Franklin County Sheriff Deputy and is now a Pennsylvania State Trooper, serving as a corporal in Troop G. He is also a member of the state police S.E.R.T. team. Harris is married, and he and his wife are the proud parents of two children.
