Ellen Banick is one of the leading scorers in Shippensburg women’s basketball history and capped off a marvelous career with a strong three-point shooting season in the 1993-94 campaign.

She ranks 14th in school history in career scoring with 1,113 points, an average of 10.8 over the course of 103 games. Banick also finished her career with a three-point shooting percentage of 38.6 percent, which still ranks third in school history.

Banick debuted in the 1990-91 season and averaged 5.2 points per game as a freshman. She improved her game with each successive season, averaging 8.4 points per game as a sophomore and 11.1 points per game as a junior.

Her banner season came as a senior in 1993-94. Banick was an ace with the three-point shot, leading the Lady Raiders in three-point shooting by making 41.7 percent of her attempts (48-118). She also led the team that year with 469 points and an impressive average of 18.8 points per game. Banick stepped up her game in conference play that season, averaging 19.4 points per game in the 12 contests against PSAC Western Division teams.

In addition, Banick led the team in rebounding with 7.4 points per game. She finished second on the team that season in assists (74), blocked shots (16) and steals (55). Her career high in scoring was 31 against Kutztown. She also scored 29 points against Edinboro, hitting 12 of 15 from the field.

Banick scored 20 or more points nine times in the season and hit double figures in 23 of the Lady Raiders’ 25 games. Shippensburg finished the season with a 13-12 record, and as a result of her efforts Banick was named to the All-PSAC Second Team and the All-ECAC Division II Second Team.

In addition to her scoring accolades, Banick ranks eighth in school history in made three-point field goals with 118 and tenth in blocks with 41.
