Katie Rowlands Carr was a versatile second baseman and pitcher for the Raiders who earned three All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) accolades from 1997-2000. During her tenure, SU had three second-place PSAC Tournament finishes, three East Regional Tournament appearances, and a 144-60 (.706) record.
 
Her 129 career RBI remain fourth in SU history, while her 52 RBI in the 1999 season are the second-most by a Raider in SU single-season history. She earned her first and only All-PSAC First Team honor at second base in her senior season, 2000, after batting .331 with four homers, six doubles, a triple and 32 RBIwhile scoring 21 runs.
 
Her best season came as a junior in 1999, when she set a school record with 71 hits and batted .420 – ripping career highs of seven home runs, 52 RBIs, 15 doubles and scoring 34 runs. It was the only season that she did not pitch, but she was named the Team MVP and earned All-PSAC Second Team honors and NFCA All-Region Second Team honors for her efforts.
 
Carr batted .290 with eight doubles and 20 RBI in 44 games during the 1998 season, a campaign in which Shippensburg was ranked as high as No. 4 in Division II and finished with a 41-8 record after a runner-up effort in the PSAC Tournament and an appearance in the East Regional. She was also effective as SU’s No. 2 starting pitcher that season, going 7-2 with a 1.62 ERA and seven complete games in 11 starts.
 
As a freshman in 1997, Carr earned her first All-PSAC East Second Team honor at second base after hitting .344 in 51 games with three homers, 25 RBI, three doubles, a triple and 15 runs scored. From the circle, she was 4-0 with a 0.94 ERA in 29 innings, making four starts and appearing in two others.
 
Overall, Carr hit .354 in 196 career games with 15 home runs, 129 RBI, 32 doubles, five triples and 77 runs scored. From the circle, she was 12-5 with a 2.13 ERA, making 18 starts and throwing 118 career innings with 11 complete games.
 
Following her graduation, Carr moved back to her hometown of Minersville. She has worked for 16 years as a manager for James W. Quandel & Sons and co-owns a trucking company, Quandel Increte Inc.
 
Katie has been married to her husband, Matt, for 14 years. The couple are the proud parents of 9-year-old son Dante and 5-year-old daughter Karlie.
