Ken Dapp was one of the best football ends in Shippensburg history, playing from 1948 to 1951. From Harrisburg, he also was a Pennsylvania Conference champion in track and field.

During the 1948 football season, his freshman year, he saw limited action. The following year he made his mark by leading the team in touchdown receptions with three.

In 1950 Dapp led the team in pass receiving with 18 catches for 320 yards and five touchdowns. He set a school record by catching three TD passes in one game as the Red Raiders defeated Slippery Rock 35-6. That record was broken by Joe Nagy in 1965 when he caught four TD passes against Shepherd.

The following year he was second on the team in pass receiving but lead the team in interceptions with five. He also caught five more touchdown passes, more than anyone else on the team.

Dapp finished his career with 13 touchdown receptions. That was the school record until Nagy caught 17 in 1962-65.

In track and field, Dapp won the Pennsylvania Conference pole vault title in 1951 with a leap of 12-0. The following year he finished second at the conference meet in pole vault and fourth in discus. Shippensburg finished second in the conference in track that season.

After graduation Dapp coached with Joe Shevock and Bob Perugini at Steelton from 1953 to 1970. He was past president of the Kiwanis Club on the West Shore and served as commissioner for the Midget Football League on the West Shore.

Since he retired from teaching he has served as an advisor to the Lutheran Brotherhood on financial matters, raising money for the needy, and as a recruiter and motivator. His region covered all of Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland.
