A two-sport athlete in both field hockey and lacrosse, Kim Minshall Kuhlman was a defensive leader in both sports who was a four-time All-PSAC selection, earning the honor three times in field hockey and once in lacrosse.
On the lacrosse field, Minshall finished her career with 23 goals and 11 assists and was named All-PSAC First Team as a senior co-captain in 1989 after moving to center and scoring nine goals and a team-high seven assists.
As a junior, Minshall had six goals and four assists as the Lady Raiders finished first in the PSAC regular-season standings with a perfect 6-0 conference record. The team hosted the PSAC championship game against second-seeded Millersville, but fell just short of capturing the team’s first conference title, 14-13.
In 1987, Shippensburg finished fourth in the PSAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship with a 7-5 record as Minshall totaled five goals, including two in the Lady Raiders’ 11-9 loss to Millersville in the PSAC tournament. As a freshman in 1986, Minshall scored three goals.
In field hockey, Minshall was named All-PSAC First Team three consecutive years from 1986-88 while also earning NFHCA All-America Honorable Mention honors as a senior in 1988. As a wing, she finished her career with three goals and one assist and was a key member on defense where she was also credited with three defensive saves.
Minshall was named her team’s Most Valuable Player in 1988 after the Lady Raiders finished with a 6-7-2 record and she scored two goals.
As a freshman in 1985, Shippensburg went 9-7 and finished second in the PSAC before advancing to the program’s first NCAA Field Hockey Championship as a member of Division III. In 1986, Minshall earned the first of three consecutive All-PSAC First Team honors despite the team’s 3-12 record before recording one goal and three defensive saves in 1987.
While at Shippensburg, Minshall not only achieved PSAC and All-American status as an athlete, but was also an Academic All-American and PSAC Scholar-Athlete as well. During her sophomore year, she was given the Class of 1926 Women’s Athletic Scholarship Award and as a junior, was presented the Helen B. Kraiss Award. Both were for scholarship and leadership service in women’s athletics.
As a senior, Minshall was named co-winner of the Gwendolyn Baker Scholar Athlete Award for her academic and athletic performance.
In addition to her playing accomplishments, Minshall graduated cum laude with a 3.4 grade point average, earning her bachelor of science degree in psychology.
