Dan Searer of Murrieta, California, lettered in football for four years and in wrestling for two.

Searer graduated from Shippensburg in December of 1974. During his senior year, in the fall of 1974, he earned honorable mention All-American honors as a defensive back. He was also a first team All-PSAC selection and a third team Associated Press All-Pennsylvania player. The All-Pennsylvania team included players from Division I teams.

In addition to leading Shippensburg in interceptions with four in 1974, Searer was second in the nation in punt returns and kickoff returns. He averaged 17.4 yards per punt return (13 for 226) and 28.1 yards per kickoff return (18 for 506). He came close to becoming the first player to ever lead the country in both categories the same season. He had an 88 yard kickoff return for a TD. Searer also blocked a punt and recovered it in the endzone for still another touchdown. Searer still holds the university record for blocked kicks in a season with four, a feat he accomplished in both 1973 and 1974.

Following graduation Searer had a tryout with the Washington Redskins. A native of Lewistown, Searer moved to Murrieta, California where he became a general contractor who builds custom homes.
