Amanda Raudabaugh Geier is the premier 800-meter runner in SU women’s track & field history, holding the all-time PSAC indoor record (2:09.39 as a senior in 2012) and the outdoor school record (2:07.62 as a sophomore in 2010).
Geier was a five-time NCAA National Championships qualifier in the 800 and a three-time All-American Top 5 finisher who also won a national championship with the team’s distance medley relay in 2011.
For her career, Geier is a 15-time PSAC place-winner, 13-time All-PSAC award winner and nine-time conference champion – including four individual titles in the 800 meters. She finished sixth or better in all eight of her conference championship appearances in the 800 meters spanning indoors and outdoors.
As a senior, Geier was named the 2012 PSAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year and was the Overall MVP of the 2012 PSAC Outdoor Championships after winning conference titles in the 800 meters and 1,500 meters in addition to running on the second-place 4x400-meter relay.
Indoors as a senior, she broke the all-time PSAC indoor record in the 800 meters during the regular season and had a historic PSAC Championship in which she set meet records in all three of her runs, winning the 800 (2:12.33), 4x4 relay (3:53.59) and distance medley relay (11:43.95) – all three still stand to this day. She went on to place fourth at the NCAA Championships in the 800 for her first individual indoor All-America classification.
Geier won six PSAC indoor titles, including three straight championships in the 800 meters from 2010-12. During her sophomore season, she ran on the 4x800-meter relay squad that broke the all-time PSAC record (9:04.77), another record that remains to this day.
Outdoors, Geier earned All-PSAC honors in the 800 from 2010-12, posting runner-up finishes before winning the title as a senior. As a junior, Geier was the national runner-up in the 800, finishing second at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Championships. She posted a fifth-place national finish as a sophomore in 2010 for the first of her two outdoor All-America honors.
After graduating cum laude in May 2012 with a bachelor of arts in psychology, Geier enrolled in graduate school at Shippensburg. She then re-joined the cross country team, having previously been with the team as a true freshman in 2008. Despite the enhanced distance from 800 meters on the track to 6,000 meters of rugged terrain, she emerged as an integral scorer on a Shippensburg team that won a conference championship and regional championship and finished seventh at nationals. She was the team’s No. 2 scoring runner, earning All-PSAC (eighth place) and All-Region (11th place) honors while finishing 55th at the NCAA Championships.
A native of Carlisle, Geier then spent two years as an assistant coach for the track & field team while completing her MED in school counseling and working as a graduate assistant in the Academic Success Program. She graduated with her master’s degree in counseling (K-12) in August 2015.
For the last 10 years, Geier has worked in the region as a high school counselor. Her service includes five years at Waynesboro High School and the past five years at Carlisle High School. While at Waynesboro, Geier spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the middle school track & field team and one season as an assistant coach for the middle school cross country team.
Geier has continued to expand upon her passion for providing support and counsel to adolescents. She is now credentialed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Additionally, in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years, Geier returned to her alma mater as an adjunct professor and academic advisor for the Shippensburg University Academic Success Program (ASP) and Summer Bridge program.
In July 2024, Geier married her husband Alexander, a 2015 SU graduate. The couple are the proud parents of a newborn daughter, Alayna Mae, born in August 2025.
