Janice Lauver Grinnell earned eight letters, four each in basketball and tennis, during her collegiate career.

In basketball Grinnell played a key role in the Lady Raiders’ success during the late 1960’s. Shippensburg won 38 games and lost only two in the four years she played. The wins included four straight over Penn State with a victory each season.

The team was undefeated in 1966, her freshman year, with a 10-0 record. The following season the Lady Raiders were 9-1.

After losing the season opener during the 1967-68 season, Shippensburg won nine straight games to finish with another 9-1 mark. The Lady Raiders posted a 49-30 win over Penn State and a 45-36 victory over the University of Maryland that season. Grinnell led the team in scoring with 11.1 points per game.

The team was undefeated in 1969 with a 10-0 record. The Lady Raiders defeated Penn State 51-22 and Maryland 57-22 that year. Following her graduation Shippensburg won its first five games during the 1969-1970 season to set the school record of 24 consecutive victories. Grinnell played a part in the first 19.

In tennis Grinnell was captain of the team in 1968 and 1969. She played at number one singles and won 26 matches during her career, the second highest total in school history at the time of her graduation. During her four years Shippensburg was 15-14-1 with 4-3 and 5-3 marks registered during her junior and senior years.

After graduating, Grinnell became a management consultant with the EER Technologies Corp. She worked with her yearly Diocesan Hunger March by organizing the three day, 100 mile walk for hunger event by helping set routes, recruiting people to walk, and proving logistical support as well as joining in and competing in the 100 mile walk herself.
