Men’s Swimming Drops Home Dual Meet to Gannon, 120-84

Dunnigan wins 200 free and 100 breast; Voulopos wins 100 back, SU wins 400 medley relay

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's swimming team won four events Friday night in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Confererence (PSAC) dual meet with Gannon but came up on the short end of the overall result, falling 120-84 to the Golden Knights.

SU began the meet strong, winning the 400-yard medley relay. Sophomore Kristian Voulopos, senior Jake Dunnigan, senior Stefan Szilagyi and freshman Shane Kaliszewski teamed up to win the event in an impressive 3:33.90.

Dunnigan won twice on the night, claiming gold in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.02) and the 100-yard breaststroke (59.85). Both times well satisfied the conference-qualifying standard. Voulopos, meanwhile, nailed the 100-yard backstroke – winning in 54.31 seconds.

Szilagyi had a pair of second-place finishes, completing the 100-yard butterfly in 52.44 seconds after serving as a sprinter for the night in the 50-yard freestyle (22.72). Both times are PSAC cuts.

Junior Tyler Clisham finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a PSAC cut of 1:01.50 while Kaliszewski met the conference standard in the 100-yard butterfly by swimming 54.47 seconds.

Shippensburg hosts Clarion at 1 p.m. Saturday on Senior Day. The team will recognize Dunnigan and Szilagyi in a pre-meet ceremony on the deck.
