The Shippensburg University men's swimming team got event victories Friday night from freshmen Mitch Kline and Kristian Voulopos as it competed against Fairmont State in a dual meet hosted by California University of Pennsylvania.
 
Kline won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a PSAC cut of 10:28.76, while Voulopos notched a win in the 200-yard backstroke after touching the wall in 2:03.93. Senior Tyler Robertson also had a conference qualifier in the 200 backstroke, swimming 2:07.78.
 
Robertson, juniors Jake Dunnigan and Stefan Szilagyi and Voulopos teamed up for a pool record and victory in the 400 medley relay that opened the meet, posting a time of 3:41.23.
 
Senior R.J. Phiambolis debuted and posted conference cuts in the 100-yard freestyle of 49.39 seconds and in the 200-yard freestyle of 1:49.74. Freshman Nick Francis, Szilagyi, Phiambolis and senior Jeff Mikitka formed a 400 freestyle relay quartet that swam 3:21.06.
 
In the 200-yard individual medley, Dunnigan just missed a victory with a PSAC cut of 2:01.26. Francis placed third, just one second behind Dunnigan, with a conference qualifier of his own. Szilagyi (2:01.18) and Mikitka (2:04.64) finished 2-3 in the 200-yard butterfly with PSAC-qualifying times.
 
Fairmont State won the dual meet, 108-95.
 
Shippensburg is at IUP in the morning for a 10 a.m. dual meet with the Crimson Hawks.
