The Shippensburg University women's swimming team competed in its second early-season dual meet on Wednesday night, dropping a 122-80 decision to host IUP in a competitive matchup from the Pidgeon Natatorium.
Shippensburg posted 13 Top 3 finishes and four performances that satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying standard.
Senior
Carly Alvarado won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.76, as the Raiders finished 1-2-3 in the event. Both Alvarado and freshman
Tomomi Nakano (1:01.65) posted PSAC cuts in the event, while senior
Claire Koons posted a time of 1:02.88.
Sophomore
Kayla Sudbrink paced the Raiders in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.35 seconds. Koons was second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.05 seconds.
Junior
Gabriella Johnson, one night after a five-set marathon on the volleyball court, posted a PSAC cut in the 100-yard breaststroke with a second-place time of 1:09.20.
