SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's swimming team won six of 11 events Friday night, taking the Top 3 positions in two of them, as it completed a successful Senior Night with a 109-90 victory over Edinboro in a home dual meet with the Fighting Scots at Donald N. Miller Pool.
 
Shippensburg snapped a two-year losing streak to Edinboro by getting a pair of individual victories from both junior Jake Dunnigan and freshman Kristian Voulopos in addition to wins from sophomore Shaun Smith and junior Stefan Szilagyi.
 
Dunnigan claimed gold in the 200 IM in 2:02.59 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.86, while Voulopos posted the fastest time in the 100 freestyle (48.77) and the 200 freestyle (1:50.80). Smith out-touched his competition in the 50 freestyle, swimming 22.55 seconds, while Szilagyi beat Smith by more than a second in the 100 butterfly (53.04).
 
SU went 1-2-3 in both the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Senior R.J. Phiambolis took second in both the 200 freestyle (1:51.06) and the 500 freestyle (5:04.67), senior Tyler Robertson was third in the 200 freestyle (1:52.56) and took second in the 100 backstroke (56.21).
 
The 100 butterfly featured Szilagyi, Smith (54.54) and senior Jeff Mikitka, who finished in 55.28 seconds. Mikitka also took third in the 50 freestyle, swimming 23.01 seconds. Sophomore Tyler Clisham was the runner-up in the 200 IM (2:04.95) and took third in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.88).
 
Before the meet, SU recognized its five seniors: Robertson, Phiambolis, Mikitka, David Buschman and Jake Zalkind. Buschman swam the 100 freestyle and in the 200 freestyle relay; Zalkind completed the 1,000 freestyle and the 100 backstroke and swam on a 200 freestyle relay.

Shippensburg returns to competition Saturday, January 24 with a noon dual meet at Davis & Elkins.
