The Shippensburg University women's swimming team received multiple victories Friday from junior Carolyn Meier and freshman MacKenna Angert as the Raiders defeated Fairmont State (153-41) and host California (118-84) in an evening dual meet against both teams.
 
Meier won two events that she had yet to swim this year, posting a 200-yard individual medley time of 2:16.23 and a 500-yard freestyle time of 5:26.57. She satisfied the PSAC qualifying standard in both events.
 
Angert impressed by claiming a two-second victory in the 200-yard backstroke, posting a PSAC cut of 2:13.63, and did so after earlier winning the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:14.14. It was a 1.5-second improvement for Angert in the 200 backstroke. Freshman Rhyan Rodriguez finished second to Angert in the 200 backstroke, swimming 2:16.11.
 
Other event winners included junior Rikki Sargent, who claimed gold in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:28.10, and freshman Erin Fife, who won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:15.48. Sargent improved her season 200 breaststroke time by more than two seconds. Freshman Nicole Martorella swam 2:32.31 in the 200 breaststroke for a conference qualifier.
 
In relay competition, senior Jess Trgovic, Sargent, Fife and freshman Nollaig Noll won the 400 medley competition in 4:07.55. Meier, Angert, Fife and freshman Jeanette Welch teamed up for a 400 freestyle victory in 3:43.27.
 
SU is back in action at 10 a.m. Saturday with a dual meet at IUP.
