The Shippensburg University wrestling team had myriad close bouts with home-standing Seton Hill on Wednesday night but dropped a 27-12 dual meet to the Griffins in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Division II matchup from the McKenna Center.
Â
Shippensburg (3-3, 0-2 PSAC) lost its opening match by a 3-0 decision, but claimed the lead with a pin at 133 pounds from freshman
Jake Downing in 2:26. The Raiders also got a 4-3 decision at 141 pounds from junior
Cole Rush, who won in sudden victory. Junior Derek Burburick won the final bout with a 3-1 overtime decision at heavyweight.
Freshman
Drake Brenize went to the wire with Seton Hill's Alex Shaw, but Shaw earned enough riding time to warrant the deciding point. Three additional Raiders fell by decisions of two or less points.Â
Seton Hill (3-3, 2-1) got pins from Austin Shaw and Damon Greenwald to key the victory.
