Shippensburg University wrestling graduate Nick Delp was eliminated on day one of the 2026 NCAA Division II National Championships Friday at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Delp, the 2026 Super Region 1 runner-up and No. 9-ranked 165-pounder nationally, lost a preliminary round bout to Newberry wrestler Bo Perkins and a consolation round bout to No. 6-ranked Ivan Smith Jr. of New Mexico Highlands.

Delp showed tremendous heart in the opener, fighting off his back after being nearly pinned in the first few moments. Facing a 7-0 deficit, Delp stayed after it and scored a third period takedown of Perkins before dropping an 11-5 decision.

A tough draw in the consolation round against the nationally-ranked Smith Jr. resulted in a close 7-2 decision loss.

Delp was the first SU national qualifier since the 2022-23 season (Avery Shay and Danny Scheib). He concluded the 2025-26 campaign with a 22-2 overall record, including six pins, two tech falls and five major decisions.

He went 31-7 overall in two seasons wearing a Raider singlet.
