SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University tennis team won 29 singles games on Saturday in its second match of the season, but the Raiders were out-lasted by Holy Family in a 9-0 dual meet at Robb Sports Complex Tennis Courts.
Shippensburg (0-2) had its No. 3 singles match go to three sets, as senior
Emilie Luttman won the second set 6-3 after dropping her first set, 4-6. The tiebreaker went in favor of Holy Family's Emerald Adams, 10-4.
Sophomore
Hannah Coath won seven games at No. 6 singles, falling 6-4, 6-3. Fellow sophomore
Kaylin Gallagher won five games at No. 4 singles, falling 6-2, 6-3.
At No. 1 singles, freshman
Catherine Miller held her own against Ukrainian Anastasiya Koloidy, a three-time All-Conference performer for Holy Family (4-1). Miller won six games, falling 6-2, 6-4.
In doubles,
Daisy Rundio and Coath came up just short in the third flight, dropping an 8-6 score. Luttman and Gallagher won five games at No. 2 doubles, while Miller and sophomore
Gabbie Binder won twice in the first flight.
Last year against Holy Family, SU managed 15 points in singles and zero in doubles.
Shippensburg will return to action next weekend at the Bloomsburg University Open.
