Men’s Soccer Gets Key PSAC Road Win at Lock Haven, 2-1, On Goals by Roy and Adams

Roy and Adams score in three-minute span of first half for third conference victory

The Shippensburg University men's soccer team received goals from senior Derrick Roy and junior Derek Adams in a three-minute stretch of the first half on Wednesday night to achieve an important conference road win, 2-1 at Lock Haven.

Shippensburg (5-7-2, 3-5 PSAC) out-shot Lock Haven (5-8-1, 4-4) 11-8 and managed 11 corner kicks. SU opened the scoring with Roy's second goal of the year in the 34th minute after the senior forward completed a run off an Adams feed by getting past a defender and shooting near post.

In the 37th minute, Adams collected a pass from graduate Renaldo Garcia that went off a defender before he collected and shot the ball far post for his second goal of the year.

The Raiders nearly added to their lead multiple times in the first 10 minutes of the second half, as sophomore David Katz and Garcia combined to hit each post before junior Brooke Moyer had a header that went off the crossbar.

The Haven goal came in the 71st minute on a header that deflected into the goal. The Raiders limited the Bald Eagles to just one shot and one corner in the final 15 minutes of play.

Sophomore Evan Raimist made three saves in the victory, all of which came in the first half.

SU hosts Bloomsburg at 2 p.m. for Senior Day on Saturday in its final home game of the regular season. Before the game, the Raiders will recognize eight men in pre-game ceremonies: Aaron Archibald, James Connor, Vinnie D'Innocenzo, Garcia, Josh Gannon, Fred Lucas, Roy and Gregg Whitcomb.
