Editor's Note: For the first time since 2009 (when USTFCCCA yearly history is readily available), a school has swept the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Atlantic Region's major awards for men's outdoor track & field. Shippensburg's Gabriel Lewis was named the 2026 Atlantic Region Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year; Gian Greggo was named the 2026 Atlantic Region Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year; Dave Osanitsch was named the 2026 Atlantic Region Men's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year, and Doug Knol was named the 2026 Atlantic Region Men's Outdoor Track & Field Assistant Coach of the Year.

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University junior Gian Greggo was named the 2026 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Atlantic Region Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year on Monday afternoon as the Raiders swept the organization's major awards for the men's outdoor season.

Greggo earned All-America First Team honors in the shot put with a third-place throw of 61 feet, 2 ¼ inches (18.65 meters) that was achieved on his second attempt at this year's NCAA Division II National Championships.

The throw shattered his previous school record and personal best (59 feet, 9 ½ inches (18.22 meters)) by nearly 18 inches. That previous record, which earned him the No. 7 seed at nationals, had already been the top shot put in the entire Atlantic Region during the 2026 season and had won Greggo the 2026 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship.

In addition to his region-leading shot put, Greggo finished the 2026 season ranked 12th in the Atlantic in the discus (season best of 154 feet, 3 inches (47.01 meters) and sixth in the hammer (personal best of 187 feet, 9 inches (57.24 meters). At this year's PSAC Championships, Greggo placed fifth in the discus (153 feet, 10 inches (46.90 meters) and eighth in the hammer (159 feet, 5 inches (48.61 meters).

Greggo and his teammate Gabriel Lewis become just the second duo in the 17-year history of the USTFCCCA regional awards to hail from the same school. In 2014, Saint Augustine's Roxroy Cato was the Atlantic Region Track Athlete of the Year while Dejon Wilkinson was the Atlantic Region Field Athlete of the Year.

Overall, Greggo is just the fourth Raider to ever be named the USTFCCCA Atlantic Region Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year. He now accompanies LeQuan Chapman (2015), Bryan Pearson (2016-17) and Josh Herbster (2024).
