SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University volleyball team set a school record by achieving its 13th consecutive victory on Saturday, posting a sweep of California (Pa.) by scores of 25-18, 25-16 and 25-22 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup from Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (14-2, 4-0 PSAC) surpassed the school-record winning streak of 12 matches set during the 2013 season with its eighth straight sweep on Saturday, as the Raiders have won all four of their league matches thus far in straight sets. SU hit .256, as sophomore setter
Emily Hangen handed out 38 assists and had 10 digs.

Gabriella Johnson posted double-doubles – DeFloria had a team-high 12 kills and hit .184 to go along with 14 digs, while Johnson had 10 kills, swung .259 and had a team-high 19 digs.
The SU middles continued their excellent work. Junior
Kendall Johnson had eight kills, four blocks and hit .533 in 15 attempts. Fellow junior
Samantha Webber had eight kills and hit .278, while sophomore
Alana Pergine had four kills and hit .214.
Along the back lines, junior
Megan Forstburg had 18 digs and passed out two assists.
SU built a 10-3 lead in the opening set and would not trail by less than three points for the remainder of the frame. In Set 2, the Raiders trailed 8-5 before embarking on a 14-4 run to take control of the middle frame. The decisive stretch included a five-point service run by DeFloria.
The third and final set was close throughout, including a 20-20 score late, but the Raiders notched five of the final seven points to claim the victory.
California (10-6, 3-1) got double-doubles from Rachel Priore (12 kills, 11 digs) and Sarah Moehring (11 kills, 12 digs) but hit just .100 as a team. The Vulcans committed 20 attack errors, while the Raiders had half that total.
In the two matches this weekend, DeFloria had 31 kills, swung .245 on 94 attempts, and had 23 digs.
Gabriella Johnson had 20 kills, 37 digs and hit .217. Hangen averaged 13 assists and 4.6 digs per set while the Raiders compiled a .248 team hitting percentage.
