The Shippensburg University volleyball team opened Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on Friday night with a convincing sweep at IUP, defeating the Crimson Hawks by set scores of 25-9, 25-13 and 25-18 from Memorial Field House.

Shippensburg (11-2, 1-0 PSAC) extended its winning streak to 10 consecutive matches by hitting .356 as a team – its highest attack percentage of the season and its best against a PSAC opponent since last year's victory over Mercyhurst on Sept. 23. The SU defense also limited IUP (4-9, 0-1) to a -.066 percentage, the worst efficiency by an SU opponent in two years.

SU's work in the middle was mostly pristine Friday night. Junior
Samantha Webber had nine kills, two blocks and hit .438 on 16 attempts. Fellow junior
Kendall Johnson had eight kills, six blocks and hit .467 on 15 attempts. Sophomore
Alana Pergine added six kills and hit .417. The three players combined for 23 kills, eight blocks and a .442 hitting percentage.

Morgan DeFloria slammed eight kills and had six digs. Junior
Gabriella Johnson had five kills, a team-high 11 digs and hit .308.

Emily Hangen directed the offense from the setter spot with 32 assists while adding seven digs, three blocks, and two kills. Junior
Megan Forstburg added seven digs.
