The Shippensburg University volleyball team extended its winning streak to five matches on Saturday with a pair of four-set victories over host West Virginia State (20-25, 25-16, 25-13, 25-21) and Shepherd (25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 25-15) in competition from the Walker Convocation Center in Institute, W. Va.

Shippensburg (6-2) continued to maintain above-average efficiency on offense, hitting .207 as a team on the day. Sophomore
Emily Hangen averaged 11.5 assists and 3.5 digs per set to direct the attack.

The SU middles maintained their effectiveness, combining for 48 kills, 14 blocks and a .316 hitting percentage. Junior
Samantha Webber hit .317 (16-3-35) against the host Yellowjackets before coming back against Shepherd with a .294 percentage (13-3-34) and five blocks. Fellow junior
Kendall Johnson hit a team-high .440 (13-2-25) against West Virginia State.

Senior
Morgan DeFloria had a double-double of 16 kills and 20 digs against Shepherd, hitting .229 with four blocks. DeFloria hit .212 (15-4-52) against West Virginia State and added nine digs in the opening match. She also had a team-high three aces on the day.

Through the first two weeks of the season, DeFloria has posted double-digit kills in all eight matches and is swinging .219 overall.

Junior
Gabriella Johnson totaled 15 kills and 30 digs. Fellow junior
Megan Forstburg added 49 digs to her season ledger, while redshirt-senior
Courtney Malott delivered 37 digs.
