The Shippensburg University men's swimming team posted its first dual-meet victory over IUP since the 2010 season Wednesday night, claiming a 112-93 victory over the host Crimson Hawks in an early-season matchup from the Pidgeon Natatorium.
 
Shippensburg won seven events – including two each by junior Jeff Beyer and sophomore Hunter Keck – while posting an impressive 14 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying cuts on the evening.
 
The Raiders won all five freestyle individual events. Beyer touched the wall at 4:51.90 in the 500-yard freestyle and at 10:05.44 in the 1,000-yard freestyle in his victories. Keck exceled in sprints, claiming the 50-yard freestyle in 22.02 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in 47.57 seconds.
 
Freshman Andrew Hale posted a four-second victory in the 200-yard freestyle, achieving a time of 1:47.15. Hale also recorded a PSAC cut in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing second to Keck with a time of 48.47 seconds. Fellow freshman Trevor Woolwine was second to Keck in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.28 seconds.
 
Freshman Matt Bochanski was the top finisher in the 100-yard breaststroke, claiming victory with a time of 59.83 seconds. Bochanski was also SU's pacesetter in the 200-yard IM, notching his second PSAC cut of the night in 2:01.14.
 
Junior Nick Bloom took second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.94 seconds and had a PSAC cut in the 200-yard IM just one one-hundredth of a second behind Bochanski. Sophomore Eric Zimmerman took third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:03.31) and 1000-yard freestyle (10:25.12) with PSAC cuts.
 
Clinching the victory for the Raiders was the triumphant 200-yard freestyle relay team that concluded the evening. Woolwine, Keck, Hale and Beyer swam 1:26.44.
