SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University volleyball team posted a straight-set victory over Bloomsburg on Friday night in the first-ever matchup between the two squads, as the Raiders claimed the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central Division matchup by scores of 25-12, 25-11 and 25-12 from Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (19-3, 9-1 PSAC) had a host of players contribute to a .243 team hitting percentage while out-digging the visitors by 20 (67-47). Sophomore
Emily Hangen notched 34 assists, a team-high 17 digs, and three kills.
Junior
Gabriella Johnson had a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs, while junior
Kendall Johnson hit .471 with 10 kills and tallied four blocks.
Sophomore
Alana Pergine was active on the night with seven kills, swinging .385. Junior
Samantha Webber matched Pergine's attack line on the night (7-2-13) and even notched four digs.
Sophomore
Gianna Sigado had two kills and two aces, while freshman
Lydia Bauer notched her first collegiate kill.
Bloomsburg (5-14, 1-9), competing in its first year as a varsity team, managed just 10 kills on the night and posted a -.088 hitting percentage. The Huskies got 25 digs from libero Alyssa Cianciulli.
