The Shippensburg University women's outdoor track & field team heads to Mansfield this week in pursuit of a league title, as the Raiders are set for competition in the 2016 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships being held Thursday through Saturday at Karl Van Norman Field & Robert T. Maxson Track.
Ticket prices are set by the PSAC per day at $7 for adults and $2 for students. A two-day pass is available for $12. All students from PSAC institutions are admitted free with valid ID.
Thursday's competition begins at 11:30 a.m. with the heptathlon -- the 10K will be run at 8:45 p.m. On Friday, the heptathlon resumes at 10:30 a.m., while the first non-multis events of the day are the shot put and high jump at noon. On Saturday, the pole vault and the javelin begin the day at 11 a.m.
The live coverage of this year's PSAC Championships is unprecedented, between the live stats of Leone Timing, the live updates on Twitter via @PSACTF, and, for the first time, a live video stream of the main stadium events. The video stream, made possible by a partnership between the Slippery Rock athletic communication office and the Mansfield sports information office, will feature commentary and video coverage beginning with Thursday night's 10K. Links to all of the coverage are available at the home page link posted above.

Dave Osanitsch '96 is posted above and can be watched by clicking the "Play" button on the picture.
After winning a PSAC Championship in 1998, Shippensburg went 11 years without another conference title. Shippensburg ended that streak by winning the PSAC Championship in 2010, and has continued to win each year since. 2016 would mark SU's seventh straight conference championship if it is able to come out on top when the dust settles on Saturday.
SU is sending a total of 40 women to compete this weekend.
EVENT BREAKDOWN:
100
7.
Allison King 12.46
T9.
Lindsay Sheehan 12.55
13.
Jill Bertino 12.57
T22.
Colleen Troutman 12.77
SHIP: A solid group of Raider qualifiers, each of whom is seeking their first trips to the podium in the 100. SU is looking for some momentum in the 100 meters, as the only Raider woman not named
Lauren Ellsworth to reach the podium over the last three years in either the indoor 60 or the outdoor 100 is Courtney Martin back in 2013. What is known is that just four-tenths of a second separates the PSAC's No. 4 seed from Troutman, the PSAC's No. 22 seed, meaning a good race opens the door for anyone.
PSAC: Millersville's Kiara Allen, the two-time defending champion, is looking to make it 3-in-a-row. She's also coming off her first indoor 60-meter title this season, and enters this weekend seeded three-tenths of a second ahead of the field.
Returning place-winners: Millersville's Kiara Allen (2015 champion, 2014 champion, 4th in 2013, seeded 1st), Kutztown's Valerie Mizansky (5th in 2015, seeded T-9th), IUP's Carly Petney (7th in 2015, seeded 2nd), Slippery Rock's Katelyn Wetzel (3rd in 2014, 7th in 2013, 5th in 2012, seeded 3rd).
200
8.
Allison King 25.42
10.
Lindsay Sheehan 25.51
T16.
Jill Bertino 25.82
SHIP: This could be considered the "specialty" event for King, Sheehan, and even Bertino, despite the fact that all three women could potentially end up on the team's 4x4 relay at the end of the meet. SU is seeking its first place-winner in the event since 2013. King and Sheehan placed 5-6 at the indoor championships this season.
PSAC: The top of this field is absolutely loaded. Slippery Rock's Jasmine Bailey is the two-time defending champion in this event both indoors (2015, 2016) and outdoors (2014, 2015) – an outdoor title this year would be her third straight outside of the dome. However, she is only the No. 3 seed. Seton Hill freshman Ameriah Walters, who broke the PSAC all-time indoor record this season and placed fourth indoors, is the top seed. Millersville's Kiara Allen specializes in the 100 meters but has set goals for being a four-time PSAC place-winner in both the 100 and the 200 – something she can achieve with a Top 8 run this year. Allen is seeded second. Bloomsburg's Alyssa Barthelmes is seeded fifth and among the many to watch; she was third indoors. This figures to be an absolutely splendid final, as the Top 8 qualifiers are going to have to run very fast to get in.
Returning place-winners: Slippery Rock's Jasmine Bailey (2015 champion, 2014 champion, seeded 3rd), Millersville's Kiara Allen (3rd in 2015, 7th in 2014, 8th in 2013, seeded 2nd).
400
2.
Megan Lundy 56.99
5.
Kiana Tucker 57.66
SHIP: Lundy, SU's outstanding senior, is looking to finish her outstanding career with eight All-PSAC finishes in the 400 meters. She is a three-time champion, having claimed the 2013 and 2014 indoor titles and the 2014 outdoor title. Lundy was third indoors this year. Tucker, a fixture on SU's 4x4 relay, enters having placed fourth in the 400 at the indoor meet this season.
PSAC: Slippery Rock's Jasmine Bailey has made the transition to 400 meters well – she won the indoor title this year and is the top seed this weekend. Bailey and Lundy are the only two to break 57 seconds this season. West Chester senior Janna Wilson is seeking the same goal as Lundy in placing all four years outdoors in the 400 meters. Wilson is seeded third.
Returning place-winners: Shippensburg's
Megan Lundy (2nd in 2015, 1st in 2014, 2nd in 2013, seeded 2nd), West Chester's Janna Wilson (4th in 2015, 6th in 2014, 7th in 2013, seeded 3rd), Kutztown's Nicole Boldosser (5th in 2014, seeded 11th), Clarion's Courtney Corban (8th in 2014, seeded 14th).
800
5.
Abby Shafer 2:14.63
18.
Abbey Farrell 2:21.83
19.
Carolyn Meier 2:21.92
SHIP: Shafer figures to be busy this weekend, as she's listed as an entrant in the 800, 1500 and 5K. She is a Top 6 seed in all three events. Meier placed seventh in this event in her debut track season and is looking to replicate that success, while Farrell will be making her PSAC outdoor 800-meter debut.
PSAC: A pair of Vulcans comprise the main favorites, as Cal's Alex Zanella is the defending champion while sophomore standout Summer Hill is an outstanding runner and seeded one second behind her teammate. Edinboro's Rebekkah Bond, a Top 5 finisher last year, is the only other runner in the league to break 2:14 thus far in 2016. There is a two-second gap between Shafer's No. 5 seed and the time for No. 6 seed, Bloomsburg's Teresa Ortiz.
Returning place-winners: Shippensburg's
Carolyn Meier (7th in 2014, seeded 19th), California's Alex Zanella (2015 champion, 3rd in 2014, seeded 1st), Edinboro's Rebekkah Bond (5th in 2015, seeded 3rd), Bloomsburg's Teresa Ortiz (6th in 2015, seeded 6th), West Chester's Emily Dusellier (5th in 2014, seeded 4th).
1500
2.
Abby Shafer 4:32.11
8.
Casey Norton 4:40.99
18.
Lindsey Gerlach 4:56.73
19.
Abbie Todd 4:57.37
SHIP: Shafer is among the favorites for the 1,500-meter title, and its her highest of three seeds for individual events entering her first PSAC outdoor championships. Norton is set to run this event for the second time, and she was the runner-up last year.
PSAC: Cal's Summer Hill is a huge favorite, as her seed time is more than four full seconds ahead of the field entering the meet. Her 4:27.67 was briefly the fastest in Division II for a hot minute and is more than six full seconds faster than the time of the two-time defending champion, Vulcan teammate Alex Zanella. However, four of the Top 5 finishers from last year are back in what figures to be a strong field. Zanella has also won the last two indoor miles, while Hill won the 2014 indoor mile as a freshman.
Returning place-winners: Shippensburg's
Casey Norton (2nd in 2015, seeded 8th), California's Alex Zanella (2015 champion, 2014 champion, seeded 3rd), Edinboro's Rebekkah Bond (3rd in 2015, seeded 5th), Bloomsburg's Teresa Ortiz (5th in 2015, seeded 7th), Seton Hill's Meagen Carter (8th in 2015, seeded 6th).
5K
5.
Casey Norton 16:58.39
6.
Abby Shafer 17:05.46
13.
Caity Reese 17:45.31
17.
Jackie Kinkead 17:59.82
20.
Bryanna Dissinger 18:12.80
22.
Hannah Fulton 18:25.60
SHIP: Much like the 1,500 meters, Norton and Shafer look to make an impact for the Raiders. This is SU's deepest event on the track, with six entrants, and Norton having been the runner-up in this event last year as well. Several Raiders hope to make an impact, particularly Reese – who is only entered in this event and had a strong cross country campaign back in the fall. Reese competed last year in the steeplechase and placed seventh.
PSAC: Impressively, seven of the Top 8 finishers are back from last year, with 2015 champion Kate Dodds of Bloomsburg having graduated. Not among last year's place-winners is the 2014 champion, Cal's Julie Friend, lurking in the field as the No. 19 seed. Slippery Rock's Jenny Picot has the top time, but another key player to watch is Edinboro's freshman distance star Ida Narbuvoll of Sweden.
Returning place-winners: Shippensburg's
Casey Norton (2nd in 2015, 4th in 2014, seeded 5th), Kutztown's Corinne Manela (3rd in 2015, seeded 8th), Bloomsburg's Hannah Boudreau (4th in 2015, seeded 12th), East Stroudsburg's Allison Decker (5th in 2015, seeded 4th), Slippery Rock's Jenny Picot (6th in 2015, 3rd in 2014, seeded 1st), Edinboro's Emma Sullivan (7th in 2015, seeded 9th), Edinboro's Anna Hosl (8th in 2015, seeded 15th), California's Julie Friend (2014 champion, seeded 19th).
10K
10.
Hannah Fulton 39:17.96
SHIP: Fulton is SU's only qualifier in the event, and she picked that qualifier up in the team's last meet of the regular season. One of just 16 entered in the field, Fulton hopes to begin a busy 48-hour stretch for herself with a scoring performance in the 10K.
PSAC: The Top 6 place-winners from last year are back this year and are among the Top 7 seeds entering this year's race. Among them is much of the same cast of characters in the 5K. Last year's 10K champion Hannah Boudreau is the No. 2 seed, while East Stroudsburg's Allie Decker is the top seed after placing sixth at home last year. The Top 8 seeds are the only ones in the field to break 39:00 on the season.
Returning place-winners: Bloomsburg's Hannah Boudreau (2015 champion, seeded 2nd), Kutztown's Corinne Manela (2nd in 2015, 6th in 2014, seeded 3rd), Edinboro's Anna Hosl (3rd in 2015, seeded 6th), Slippery Rock's Jenny Picot (4th in 2015, seeded 7th), Edinboro's Emma Sullivan (5th in 2015, seeded 5th), East Stroudsburg's Allison Decker (6th in 2015, seeded 1st), Millersville's Shannon Cruz (2nd in 2014, seeded 15th).
100H
1.
Danielle Sciremammano 14.34
7.
Kayla Lawson 14.93
16.
Teri Stoner 15.39
20.
Tatiana Purnell 15.76
SHIP: Sciremammano has a chance for a PSAC title and has been exceptional this year in the sprint hurdles. She has placed in all three of her hurdles races thus far, including second indoors this season. Lawson is one of eight in the league to break 15 seconds during the regular season and is also vying for a trip to the podium.
PSAC: An intriguing field this year, with two of last year's Top 3 not back in the field. That includes Seton Hill's Jenna Bracken, last year's champion, who is not among the 2016 entrants. Slippery Rock's Sabrina Anderson, the indoor 60-meter champion, is seeded third. Millersville's Erin "Shoes" Madison, while a specialist in the 400-meter hurdles, is dangerous in the event as well in having posted Top 5 finishes in each of the last two years. UPJ sophomore Kelci Warshel, who placed third indoors to Anderson and Sciremammano, is right there as well as the No. 2 seed. Slippery Rock's Sophie Mazza was fourth indoors in the 60 hurdles and is seeded in that same position here. Seton Hill's Angela McCowin is seeded eighth and made the finals as a freshman in 2014, but did not place due to a false start.
Returning place-winners: Shippensburg's
Danielle Sciremammano (7th in 2015, seeded 1st), Millersville's Erin Madison (2nd in 2015, 5th in 2014, seeded 5th), Millersville's Ari Camel (4th in 2015, seeded 10th).
400H
7.
Tatiana Purnell 1:04.70
8.
Kayla Lawson 1:05.82
12.
Teri Stoner 1:07.15
SHIP: SU has three first-time competitors in the event at PSACs, with Purnell and Lawson both currently among the Top 8 seeds in a deep field.
PSAC: Millersville's Erin "Shoes" Madison has been the class of the league over the last three years, claiming an elusive title last year for the first time after runner-up finishes as a freshman and sophomore. She is the top seed and looking to make it four All-PSAC finishes for her career. Slippery Rock's Kennedy Evans, an All-PSAC finisher in the 100 hurdles last year, has made huge strides this season in the 400 hurdles and enters with a strong No. 2 seed. Clarion's Tatiana Cloud was the runner-up last year and boasts two Top 5 finishers in the last two years, while Slippery Rock's Casaundra Swartzbaugh is also a two-time place-winner. ESU's Kelley Stuetz is the younger sister of SU All-American Caitlin Stuetz, a four-time PSAC place-winner in this event and the 2012 and 2013 champion.
Returning place-winners: Millersville's Erin Madison (2015 champion, 2nd in 2014, 2nd in 2013, seeded 1st), Clarion's Tatiana Cloud (2nd in 2015, 5th in 2014, seeded 3rd), Slippery Rock's Casaundra Swartzbaugh (6th in 2015, 8th in 2014, seeded 4th), East Stroudsburg's Kelley Stuetz (8th in 2015, seeded 10th).
3KS
7.
Bryanna Dissinger 11:26.35
13.
Lindsey Gerlach 11:54.75
SHIP: Dissinger had an impressive fifth-place outing as a freshman and is among the candidates for a place-winning performance this year despite a rather deep field. Gerlach will need to make up some ground if she is to be a scorer but much can happen. There is a 14-second gap between Dissinger and the No. 8 seed among the entrants.
PSAC: Cal's Julie Friend is the heavy favorite after a PR run at the Penn Relays has her ranked 12th in the country. Friend red-shirted outdoors last year and indoors this year – she was an All-American as a freshman in 2014 after placing sixth in the country following her second-place run at the conference championships. Seton Hill's Chelsia Poole has been pretty consistent and was second a year ago. Edinboro's Kasey Jones has placed among the Top 5 in this event in each of the two years she has run it.
Returning place-winners: Shippensburg's
Bryanna Dissinger (5th in 2015, seeded 7th), Seton Hill's Chelsia Poole (2nd in 2015, seeded 2nd), Slippery Rock's Kaylee Haberkam (4th in 2015, seeded 14th), Bloomsburg's Jessica Quesenberry (8th in 2015, seeded 6th), California's Julie Friend (2nd in 2014, seeded 1st), Edinboro's Kasey Jones (5th in 2014, 3rd in 2013, seeded 3rd).
4x1 RELAY
3. Shippensburg 47.59
PSAC: Shippensburg brings
Sarah Hunt,
Danielle Sciremammano,
Lindsay Sheehan and
Allison King to the table as its go-to 4x1 relay this year, with
Jill Bertino listed as the alternate. SU was the runner-up last year, and won in 2013. Slippery Rock and Millersville are the favorites, but the Raiders look to make an impact as well. The three schools are the only ones during the season to beat 48 seconds in the relay.
4x4 RELAY
2. Shippensburg 3:17.00
PSAC: Shippensburg has won this event three straight years and once again has a solid relay, with senior anchor
Megan Lundy likely joined by sophomore
Lindsay Sheehan and sophomore
Kiana Tucker. Sophomore
Jill Bertino and freshman
Allison King could each be among the legs as well. The Raiders were narrowly bested in a great duel by one-tenth of a second at the Paul Kaiser Classic by West Chester, and both of those efforts are the Top 2 seed times. SU edged WCU last year, but Slippery Rock is going to be right in this mix as well. The Raiders narrowly beat The Rock for the indoor title this year.
4x8 RELAY
5. Shippensburg 9:50.38
PSAC: Shippensburg has junior
Abbey Farrell, junior
Carolyn Meier, junior
Abby Shafer and sophomore
Kiana Tucker projected to make a run at the 4x8 title. The Raiders won by seven seconds last year, with Tucker and Meier on that unit. Meier and Farrell ran on the 2014 relay that placed fourth. East Stroudsburg is the favorite after dropping a 9:24 relay at Penn Relays, while Edinboro, Slippery Rock and California also boast strong quartets.
HIGH JUMP
9.
Samantha Johnson 1.61m (5' 3 ¼")
T12.
Maura Nolan 1.58m (5' 2 ¼")
T12.
Erica Helm 1.58m (5' 2 ¼")
SHIP: Johnson and Helm are each competing in the heptathlon on Thursday and Friday but also taking time to step over the high jump bar in an effort to find the podium. Nolan, an All-PSAC East First Team volleyball qualifier, will be making her PSAC Championships debut this year after clearing the conference standard at the SU Invitational. All three have the potential to score, as in two of the last three years, eighth place has been a mark under the current PSAC standard.
PSAC: Slippery Rock's Paige Kassab is the favorite, as she is currently among the national qualifiers after having cleared 5 feet, 7 ¼ inches. Bloomsburg's Joselyn Estrada-Pascual and West Chester freshman Holly Szita are also strong contenders. Slippery Rock's Ashley West is looking to make it 4-for-4 as a place-winner, posting All-PSAC finishes in each of her first three years. West is seeded tied for sixth. After the Top 11 seeds, there is a glut of seven athletes all in the field having met the minimum standard, including one place-winner from a year ago.
Returning place-winners: Slippery Rock's Ashley West (2nd in 2015, T-2nd in 2014, 3rd in 2013, seeded T-6th), Bloomsburg's Joselyn Estrada-Pascual (4th in 2015, T-4th in 2014, seeded 2nd), Slippery Rock's Paige Kassab (5th in 2015, seeded 1st), Kutztown's Rebecca Tooker (6th in 2015, seeded T-12th), Bloomsburg's Amanda Simone (7th in 2015, seeded T-10th), Clarion's Kristen Belko (7th in 2014, seeded 5th).
POLE VAULT
4.
Kali Hepner 3.60m (11' 9 ¾")
T11.
Emily Wicker 3.40m (11' 1 ¾")
SHIP: Hepner tied for seventh indoors this year and is seeking her first outdoor scoring performance after placing ninth a year ago. Wicker is also among those who can sneak onto the podium with a strong effort this weekend.
PSAC: It should be a great battle between Slippery Rock's Kaitlyn Clark and Kutztown's Emma Sullivan. Clark is seeking her third title and fourth All-PSAC finish, while Sullivan is seeking her first title and third Top 3 finish. Sullivan is also the 2016 indoor champion, with Mansfield's Charlsie Bowen the indoor runner-up and the No. 3 outdoor seed.
Returning place-winners: Slippery Rock's Kaitlyn Clark (2015 champion, 3rd in 2014, 2013 champion, seeded 1st), Kutztown's Emma Sullivan (2nd in 2015, 4th in 2014, seeded 2nd), Millersville's Erin Harman (4th in 2015, seeded 7th), Mansfield's Charlsie Bowen (T-5th in 2015, seeded 3rd),
LONG JUMP
1.
Sarah Hunt 6.09m (19' 11 ¾")
3.
Danielle Sciremammano 5.73m (18' 9 ¾")
4.
Abby Wagner 5.60m (18' 4 ½")
14.
Abby Martin 5.30m (17' 4 ¾")
18.
Alyssa Sitch 5.25m (17' 2 ¾")
SHIP: This is a pivotal event for Shippensburg, as the Raiders are poised to have three big scorers based on the seeds. Hunt is in the most consistent stretch of her career, having landed multiple six-meter jumps this season. She is in for another battle with Bloomsburg's Kaylee Caruso, an event which has been a theme throughout the entire 2015-16 season. Sciremammano, fourth indoors this year and outdoors last year, continues to shine and has narrowly missed the NCAA provisional standard. Wagner has been awesome as a freshman and is looking to be an indoor and outdoor place-winner as a rookie.
PSAC: Caruso is the defending outdoor champion and won the indoor title this season as well. Both Caruso and Hunt are looking for three All-PSAC finishes in a row.
Returning place-winners: Shippensburg's
Sarah Hunt (2nd in 2015, 3rd in 2014, seeded 1st), Shippensburg's
Danielle Sciremammano (4th in 2015, seeded 3rd), Bloomsburg's Kaylee Caruso (2015 champion, 2nd in 2014, seeded 2nd), Kutztown's Valerie Mizansky (8th in 2015, seeded 5th).
TRIPLE JUMP
1.
Sarah Hunt 12.22m (40' 1 ¼")
2.
Abby Wagner 11.87m (38' 11 ½")
SHIP: Hunt, the defending champion, and Wagner would love to maintain their seeds for Shippensburg in another crucial field event for the Raiders. While Hunt's lead on the rest of the field is more than a foot, she will have to fend off a deep field that includes Bloomsburg's Kaylee Caruso, the indoor champion and a two-time outdoor place-winner.
PSAC: The field is teeming with returning place-winners – eight in total. The Top 6 finishers from last year, and seven of eight total from 2015, are back. IUP's Brooke Smay is seeded 13th but has been a Top 4 finisher in each of the last two years.
Returning place-winners: Shippensburg's
Sarah Hunt (2015 champion, 2nd in 2014, seeded 1st), IUP's Brooke Smay (2nd in 2015, 4th in 2014, seeded 13th), Bloomsburg's Kaylee Caruso (3rd in 2015, 6th in 2014, seeded 3rd), California's Kailah Holmes (4th in 2015, seeded 5th), West Chester's Sarah Kosenske (5th in 2015, seeded 8th), California's Ieisha Jackson (6th in 2015, seeded 6th), East Stroudsburg's Tirzah Johnson (8th in 2015, 5th in 2014, 6th in 2013, seeded 19th), Seton Hill's Nichelle McMillian (3rd in 2014, seeded 7th).
SHOT PUT
1.
Tamara Ovejera 14.53m (47' 8")
6.
Paige Shirk 13.05m (42' 9 ¾")
11.
Sabrina Johnson 12.26m (40' 2 ¾")
12.
Erin Doherty 12.23m (40' 1 ½")
SHIP: Ovejera is the top seed and seeking her first PSAC title, having placed fourth outdoors last year and second indoors this season. Shirk has re-emerged and is a strong threat in both this event and the discus. Johnson and Doherty both have the potential to score as well, and Doherty did so with a sixth-place finish last year. Doherty was eighth this year indoors.
PSAC: With the perennially strong Kayla Owens of West Chester having graduated after two straight titles, it opens the door for a new champion. Edinboro freshman Gabby Schultz is among the favorites as well after winning the indoor title; she is seeded second.
Returning place-winners: Shippensburg's
Tamara Ovejera (4th in 2015, seeded 1st), Shippensburg's
Erin Doherty (6th in 2015, seeded 12th), Cheyney's Jada Phillips (3rd in 2015, seeded 7th), Kutztown's Macey Tanseco (5th in 2015, seeded T-4th), Slippery Rock's Anna Frengel (8th in 2015, seeded 9th), Kutztown's Carliyonna Thurber (4th in 2014, seeded 17th), Bloomsburg's Meghan Hallick (7th in 2014, 7th in 2013, seeded 13th).
DISCUS
1.
Tamara Ovejera 48.61m (159' 6")
2.
Brianna Davis 45.62m (149' 8")
3.
Paige Shirk 43.77m (143' 7")
8.
Erin Doherty 38.85m (127' 5")
10.
Sabrina Johnson 38.25m (125' 6")
12.
Sam Nelson 37.80m (124')
SHIP: The Raiders have the chance to go crazy here, armed with six of the Top 12 seeds including each of the Top 3. This event is of major importance to SU's success. Ovejera is the defending champion and a huge favorite, having thrown 10 feet farther than the second seed, teammate Davis. It's Davis's signature event as well, and she has a provisional mark on the year as well and is trying to improve her PR to reach the national championships.
PSAC: The Raiders have returning place-winners. The only two returning multiple place-winners are Davis and Millersville's Vanessa Hower, who specializes in the hammer. Three freshmen, including Millersville's Sunflower Greene, are seeded 4-6.
Returning place-winners: Shippensburg's
Tamara Ovejera (2015 champion, seeded 1st), Shippensburg's
Brianna Davis (3rd in 2015, 5th in 2013, seeded 2nd), Shippensburg's
Sam Nelson (8th in 2015, seeded 12th), Clarion's Summer Murray (4th in 2015, seeded 7th), West Chester's Christine Johnson (6th in 2014, seeded 16th), Millersville's Vanessa Hower (8th in 2014, 6th in 2013, seeded 9th).
HAMMER
2.
Tamara Ovejera 51.70m (169' 7")
4.
Sam Nelson 45.66m (149' 10")
5.
Erin Doherty 45.32m (148' 8")
12.
Brianna Davis 42.70m (140' 1")
14.
Sabrina Johnson 42.29m (138' 9")
SHIP: Ovejera's most recent of her three school records this season has her at the No. 2 seed. Nelson is one of just two previous PSAC place-winners in the field, having twice placed sixth. She and Doherty are two strong candidates for points as well.
PSAC: Millersville's Vanessa Hower is the defending champion and a strong favorite, having thrown 10 feet farther this season than Ovejera and the rest of the field. Marauder teammate Sunflower Greene is another candidate worth watching; she is seeded third.
Returning place-winners: Shippensburg's
Sam Nelson (6th in 2015, 6th in 2014, seeded 4th), Millersville's Vanessa Hower (2015 champion, 3rd in 2014, 5th in 2013, seeded 1st).
JAVELIN
3.
Morgan DeFloria 45.38m (148' 11")
4.
Crystal Hartman 44.75m (146' 10")
8.
Heather Bolick 39.17m (128' 6")
15.
Kelly Logan 36.53m (119' 10")
SHIP: SU hopes to nab multiple place-winners in this event. DeFloria, the 2015 PSAC Volleyball Championships MVP as a freshman, made her outdoor track & field debut two weeks ago and broke the school record in the javelin in her only collegiate meet to date. Hartman, a national qualifier last year, is looking to post her second straight Top 5 finish. Bolick is seeking an elusive scoring performance after coming close on a couple of occasions.
PSAC: Pretty cool that the PSAC has four of the nation's Top 17 javelin throwers at the moment. The strong favorite is Slippery Rock's Sam Taylor, a three-time All-PSAC performer who won the conference title in 2014. Mansfield's Kelsey Carlsen was a national qualifier herself last year and is seeded fifth. You can't count out Seton Hill's Jessica Slagus or Millersville's Amanda Myers either.
Returning place-winners: Shippensburg's
Crystal Hartman (5th in 2015, seeded 4th), Slippery Rock's Sam Taylor (2nd in 2015, 2014 champion, 3rd in 2013, seeded 1st), Seton Hill's Jessica Slagus (3rd in 2015, 5th in 2014, seeded 6th), Millersville's Amanda Myers (6th in 2015, seeded 2nd), Mansfield's Kelsey Carlsen (8th in 2015, 4th in 2014, seeded 5th), Millersville's Olivia Misner (7th in 2014, seeded 7th).
HEPTATHLON
5.
Samantha Johnson 4033
6.
Kali Dawson 3915
8.
Erica Helm 3777
SHIP: All three Raiders are making their PSAC Championships debut in the heptathlon and seeking to maintain at least their seeds to help secure some team points. Indoors this year, Johnson was sixth in the pentathlon while Helm placed eighth.
PSAC: Slippery Rock's Sabrina Anderson has won back-to-back indoor pentathlons and placed twice outdoors. She is a strong favorite. There's some experience in the field, with Clarion's Kristen Belko competing in her fourth heptathlon and having placed twice before.
Returning place-winners: Slippery Rock's Sabrina Anderson (5th in 2015, 3rd in 2014, seeded 1st), Clarion's Kristen Belko (7th in 2015, 8th in 2013, seeded 2nd), Seton Hill's Angela McCowin (8th in 2015, seeded 7th), Millersville's Ari Camel (6th in 2014, seeded 4th), Bloomsburg's Haley Kramer (8th in 2014, seeded 3rd).
