SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- Five Shippensburg University student-athletes have been selected to the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-District ® Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team, an award that recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance in academics and athletics.
The Raiders who have been recognized for the 2024-25 academic year are senior mid-distance runner
Emily Calamia, junior thrower
Makayla Decker, graduate cross country/distance runner
Kelsey Hull, senior heptathlete
Nicola Puggé and senior thrower
Abby Reasoner.
The Academic All-District ® Teams are conducted by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). These five Raiders are now among those who will be considered for the Academic All-America ® Team that will be announced July 15.
Puggé is a three-time Academic All-District ® Team selection (2022-23, 2023-24), while Hull is a two-time honoree (2023-24). It is the first Academic All-District ® honor for Calamia, Decker and Reasoner.
Calamia has maintained a 3.97 grade point average (GPA) as a civil engineering major and ranked 19th in the Atlantic Region in the indoor 400 meters.
Decker sports a 3.94 GPA as a history major (social studies teaching certificate) and ranked sixth regionally in the discus.
Puggé has logged a 3.92 GPA as a communication, journalism and media major (print journalism concentration) while ranking fourth in the Atlantic Region in the indoor pentathlon and sixth in the outdoor heptathlon.
Hull has maintained a .396 graduate GPA as a geoenvironmental science and sustainability major while ranking eighth in the region in the mile run.
Reasoner has maintained a 3.84 GPA as a political science major while ranking second regionally in the javelin and earning a trip to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
To be eligible for Academic All-District ® consideration, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and must be enrolled at their institution at the time of nomination either as undergraduates or graduate students.
Academically, an undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). A graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a graduate student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don't have an established graduate GPA.
For track & field, eligibility for Academic All-District ® consideration is a bit more specific than other sports. A student-athlete must rank among the Top 50 individuals in a single event indoors or outdoors per the Track & Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) or have finished among the Top 50 at the 2024 NCAA regional or national cross country championships. Relay performances cannot be a sole determinant of eligibility.
CSC honors a maximum of five men's and five women's track & field athletes from each school.
