WINGATE, N.C. – The Shippensburg University baseball team achieved a doubleheader split for the second-straight day in North Carolina, as the Raiders posted a 10-8 victory on Saturday in Game 2 over host Wingate after dropping the opener to the Bulldogs, 7-1.

Shippensburg (2-2) cranked out 13 hits on the day, with five different Raiders contributing two hits over the course of Saturday's doubleheader. SU stole eight bases on the day and committed just two errors.

SU scored four runs in the first and second innings of Game 2, taking a 9-2 lead through 3.5 innings. SU led 10-5 through five innings, but Wingate (3-4) rallied in the final two at-bats – scoring three times. Junior
Josh Kutchey entered into a bases-loaded, one-out situation in the seventh and got the final two outs to preserve SU's win.

Kyle McClintock to pick up a win in relief. McClintock threw 2.1 innings out of the bullpen, allowing a lone run with a strikeout.

Shippensburg took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning of Game 1, but the Bulldogs rallied to take the lead. With two outs in the fifth, Wingate got an RBI-double from ABCA All-American Shane Billings to make the score 2-1. Billings finished the day 6-for-7 at the plate with two doubles, two triples and five RBIs.

Wingate erupted for five runs in the sixth inning off two Raider relievers, creating the lopsided score in the opener.

Rich Michaud threw extremely well in the opener, allowing just the two fifth-inning runs on five hits. Michaud did not walk a batter and struck out six – his second-highest single game total in his 22nd career start as a Raider.

Gabe Mosser started Game 2 and pitched 3.2 innings.

Sophomore
Dalton Hoiles had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored on the day. For the weekend, Hoiles batted .429 (6-for-14) with three doubles and two stolen bases.

Freshman
Cash Gladfelter contributed SU's first home run of 2016, launching a solo shot in Game 2. He went 2-for-4 at the plate in Game 2.

Seniors
Austin Allison and
Mike Marcinko, along with junior
Jake Kennedy, each had two hits on the day. Marcinko and junior
Ryan McMillen each had two stolen bases.

Shippensburg will travel to Catawba next weekend for a three-game series with the Indians.
