Box Score 2 The Shippensburg University baseball team ran into a pair of solid pitching performances Saturday as it dropped a doubleheader at No. 5 Catawba. SU lost Game 1, 6-1, and fell in Game 2, 11-2.

Shippensburg (2-4) totaled 11 hits across the two games, and outhit Catawba in the first game, but was unable to translate the hits into runs. Senior
Austin Allison had a fine afternoon for SU, finishing 4-for-7 with two RBIs.

Allison singled home senior
Mike Marcinko for SU's lone run in the first game. Marcinko was 2-for-3 with a walk in Game 1. Marcinko and Allison also each stole a base.

Allison also drove in sophomore
Nick Spangler with a double in Game 2. Junior
Ryan McMillen scored Allison with an RBI single as part of a two-run fourth inning in Game 2.

Senior
Marcus Shippey started Game 1 and struck out six in 4.1 innings. Game 2 starter, junior
Mark Curtis, also struck out six as he went four innings.

Sophomore
Gabe Mosser was fantastic in relief of Shippey, striking out five in 2.2 hitless innings.

Michael Hope combined to allow a run on one hit in 1.2 innings of relief in Game 2.
Catawba's Shaefer Shepard threw 7.1 innings of one-run base ball to pick up the win in Game 1. In Game 2, Indians' starter Russ Weiker allowed just two runs in five innings of work. In the two games, Catawba's bullpen allowed just one hit in 3.2 scoreless innings.
Shippensburg and Catawba finish their three-game series tomorrow, beginning at 1 p.m.
