2018 (Junior): Remained a regular for the Raiders, appearing in 50-of-52 games and making 47 starts as either a designated hitter or catcher…hit .280 with a .401 on base percentage…finished with 40 hits including a career-high 11 doubles and three home runs…scored 33 runs…tallied a career-high 30 RBIs…drew a career-high 28 walks…recorded nine multi-hit games and 10 multi-RBI games…slugged a home run, double and five RBIs in a doubleheader at West Chester...tallied five hits and five RBIs in the Kutztown series…reached base eight times in the PSAC Tournament, going 5-for-14 with a double, RBI and three walks.
 
2017 (Sophomore): Appeared in 54 games while making 52 starts as the primary designated hitter and backup catcher…hit .303 with a .351 on base percentage…finished with 52 hits including nine doubles and four home runs…drove in and scored 21 runs while drawing 15 walks…threw out two base stealers on the year…hit a game-winning home run against Mansfield to clinch a road sweep for the Raiders…recorded 15 multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games.
 
2016 (Freshman): Immediately became SU’s primary catcher in successful debut season with the team…played in 39 games, starting 32 (30 at catcher, two at designated hitter)…posted .280 batting average with a .381 on-base percentage and a .380 slugging percentage…hit seven doubles, a home run and drove in 17 runs…had seven multi-hit games…drove in multiple runs five times, including three-RBI day against Wilmington…collected first collegiate hit at Wingate…hit first career home run as part of 3-for-4 day at Bloomsburg…threw out 12 base stealers…committed three errors for a .986 fielding percentage.
 
Parkside High School: Earned four varsity letters playing for the Rams under coach Brian Hollaman…recorded .350 batting average in junior and senior seasons…threw out 75 percent of potential base stealers during senior year…named to All-Bayside First Team following senior season…played in the Brooks Robinson Game at Camden Yards…member of the honor roll all four years…ranked third in his class…member of National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theda (Math National Honor Society).
 
About Goertzen: Full name is Jack Robert Goertzen…is the son of Randy and Gerri Goertzen…majoring in biology with a concentration in pre-dentistry, while seeking a minor in business…has a sister, Sydney, who plays softball at Catawba…serves as the 2018-19 Shippensburg University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) President.
