Jeff Beyer posted event victories on Friday night as the Shippensburg University men's swimming team dropped a dual meet at fellow Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) school Clarion, 140-114, from Tippin Natatorium.
Kaliszewski had a strong swim in the 100-yard butterfly, winning the event with a PSAC cut of 54.60 seconds. Beyer won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:49.11 while placing second in the 500 freestyle (4:49.71) and the 1000-yard freestyle (10:03.60) – all PSAC cuts.
Shippensburg had nine PSAC cuts on the night. Junior
Kristian Voulopos also had three PSAC cuts – placing second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.31), 100-yard backstroke (55.62) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:03.74). Freshman
Nick Bloom also had a pair, placing third in the 100 backstroke (56.11) and the 400-yard IM (4:28.80).
In a close 200-yard freestyle relay at the end of the meet, it was sophomore
Evan Smith, Voulopos, freshman
Thomas Toscano and Beyer who swam 1:29.523.
Saturday's meet at Gannon has been canceled, so the next competition for the Raiders will be in two weeks at the all-important Patriot Invitational hosted by George Mason University.
