The Shippensburg University women's cross country team rode an All-PSAC performance from freshman
Lizzie Manickas and a tight pack of Top 40 finishers on Saturday to come away with a third-place team finish at the 2014 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships held at the Lamb's Creek Course in Mansfield.
Shippensburg totaled 127 points for a comfortable 60-point cushion over fourth-place Lock Haven (187 points), but the Raiders were 56 points behind second-place Bloomsburg (71 points). Lauren Lehman of the Huskies won the individual title in 21:17, while Kate Dodds finished fourth and four Huskies placed among the Top 17.
Edinboro won the PSAC Championship with 52 points, putting all five of its runners within the Top 16. The Scots were paced by Kasey Jones, who placed third, and Anna Hosl, who placed eighth.
Manickas placed 12th overall for the Raiders in 22:08 – an 18-second PR for the blossoming distance runner who was the fastest freshman in Saturday's race. She was one of only two freshmen to finish among the Top 30 in the race.
Sophomore
Natalie Eastwood repeated as SU's No. 2 runner after filling the role two weeks ago in the ECAC Championships held on the Mansfield course. Eastwood finished 25th overall in 22:50 – just nine second off her previous personal best.
Fellow sophomore
Casey Norton has been battling through an injury and served as the No. 3 runner, finishing one place and one second behind Eastwood. It was the first time this season that Norton was not SU's pacesetter in a race that she completed.
Bryanna Dissinger was the third-fastest freshman in Saturday's race, placing 31st overall in 22:56. She was just eight second off her personal best. Junior
Jessica Collins rounded out the Raider scorers in 33rd place; she had been SU's No. 9 runner in her previous two conference-championship races.
Redshirt-freshman
Sarah Latch and senior
April Schlusser finished back-to-back in 35th and 36th place with times of 23:08 and 23:10.
Sophomores
