The Shippensburg University women's cross country team heads to PennWest Edinboro this weekend for the 2025 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships. The race will be held at the Doug Watts Cross Country Course and the start of the 6K race is set for 10 a.m. Saturday.
Live results and additional coverage of the race, along with a course map, parking details and additional championships information is available by clicking on the button above to the right.
For the second straight year, the PSAC Championships will mark Shippensburg's first competition in a three-week span. The Raiders were last in action on Friday Oct. 3, meaning the squad has spent the majority of October getting ready for the postseason.
"I've been pleased with our workouts," head coach
Steve Spence said. "We've had some quality long hard runs and track workouts. We have had a couple setbacks with injuries and we've had a couple that were struggling with injuries who are now healthy.
Spence added: "Illnesses are always a concern this time of year. We've had our share of illnesses make their way through our teams. I often get frustrated with the number of illnesses, but I remind myself that other teams are dealing with the same thing."
Shippensburg returns five runners from last year's PSAC Championships race after which it hoisted the second-place trophy. Overall, seven of the 11 runners in SU's projected lineup have competed in at least one PSAC Championships race.
The most experienced are seniors
Livi Rieck and
Morgan Hess, each of whom will be running in their fourth PSAC Championships race.
Rieck is a three-time All-PSAC Performer, having earned First Team honors as a sophomore (ninth in 2023) and Second Team honors as a freshman (23rd in 2022) and as a junior (24th in 2024). Hess was an All-PSAC Second Team finisher as a sophomore (28th in 2023).
Helene Shevick will be running at PSACs for the third time, while
Victoria Bartholomew,
Brooke Miller,
Caleigh Vincent and
Faith Wilson will be appearing in their second conference championships race. Bartholomew finished two spots shy of All-PSAC honors last season in her debut.
Abby Gehris,
Kira Logiovine,
Anna Schaeffer and
Mya Trotty will be running in the PSAC Championships race for the first time.
Saturday marks the first time the PSAC Cross Country Championships have been held at Edinboro since 2018 – the last year that the Raiders won the conference title.
About the Doug Watts Cross Country Course:
Head Coach
Steve Spence described the terrain in Edinboro as "flat at the bottom and flat at the top." Connecting the bookends of the course is a 400-meter hill of which the women will ascend and descend twice.
"In preparation, we've done some repeats on the Forest Ridge hill at the other end of town," Spence said. "Forest Ridge is very steep at the bottom and then extends to about 700 meters. It is much more challenging than the hill at Edinboro, so our runners will not be intimidated. That being said, the second time the women run up the Edinboro hill, it will be a grind."
