The Shippensburg University wrestling team traveled to Mat Town on Friday night for a dual meet with Division I Lock Haven University, with junior
Cameron Throckmorton earning an impressive decision but the Raiders ultimately dropping the meet 46-3 to the Bald Eagles.
Throckmorton scored an 8-4 decision over Bobby Rehm, a two-time PSAC Champion at 133 pounds who is wrestling up a weight class this season after red-shirting. Rehm earned the first takedown and led 2-1 after one period, but Throckmorton escaped in the second period and notched a takedown to take the lead.
Despite Rehm escaping in the third period to make it 4-3, Throckmorton used two more takedowns to notch his four-point victory and improve to 5-0 on the season.
In another close match on the evening, freshman
Josh Charles dropped a 7-5 decision at 125 pounds to Lock Haven's Jake Field, who used a late takedown to secure the victory.
Shippensburg returns to action Saturday, December 6 when it sends a contingent to Bloomsburg University to compete in the 2014 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships.
