Lucy Kauffman was named the 2014 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Field Hockey Champion Scholar on Friday prior to the team's semifinal matchup with Millersville.
Â
Kauffman is a biology major with a concentration in pre-optometry. She has compiled a 3.905 cumulative grade-point-average.
Â
She is just the second different Raider to win the award, joining softball player Hilary Lyons in 2012 and 2013.
Â
A team captain, Kauffman leads SU with eight assists this season. She also scored the game-winning goal in the PSAC Tournament quarterfinal vs. Slippery Rock.
Kauffman was also featured in an in-depth article that ran Friday on NCAA.com profiling her experiences in NCAA Championships competition; it is linked above.
Â
The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards, which are in their fourth year of existence, are modeled after the NCAA's Elite 89 award and honors the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 23 team championship finals.
