The Shippensburg University wrestling team used five pins, a major decision, a forfeit and two decisions to achieve a convincing 46-6 rout of Belmont Abbey Friday night at the 2013 Super Region I Duals hosted by Newberry College.
Shippensburg (8-4) raced out to a 33-0 lead through the first six bouts and never looked back. Its only loss of the evening came due to an injury default.
Sophomore
Dereck Enders, redshirt-freshman
Cameron Throckmorton and senior
Cody Myers opened the match with consecutive pins before sophomore
Ean Starner earned a victory by forfeit at 149 pounds.
At 157 pounds, sophomore
Neal Grudi earned an 11-7 decision before junior
John Lindquist resumed the pinning party at 165 pounds, wrestling up to earn a victory by fall in 3:39.
Sophomore
Luke Etter racked up a 13-0 major decision at 184 pounds; freshman
Marshall Hobbs notched a pin at 197 pounds and senior
Jacob Nale recorded an 8-4 decision at heavyweight.
Enders and Hobbs made their SU debuts while Nale made his season debut.
Shippensburg will wrestle in three dual meets on Saturday, beginning with an 8:30 a.m. matchup against Ouachita Baptist.
