SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Shippensburg University baseball team got a quality start from sophomore
Cam Richardson and scored seven runs in its last at-bat to outlast Concord (W.Va.) at the 2011 Savannah Invitational, 10-8.
Shippensburg (3-10) finished its southern excursion with wins in three of its four games. The Raiders scored 38 runs in those four games – hitting .322 as a team – and smacked 11 extra-base hits on the trip.
Richardson, who was making his first collegiate start, did not allow a hit through his first four innings of work and gave up just two in 6.2 solid innings on the mound. The sophomore allowed just two earned runs while striking out six hitters.
The first five hitters in Shippensburg's lineup each had at least one hit while seventh-place hitter
Pat Kregeloh had a pair of doubles with three RBIs. Senior
Kris Kullman drew three walks out of the eighth spot and scored a run.
Kregeloh had an RBI double in the second inning to open the scoring and the Raiders scored two more times in the sixth to take a 3-0 lead. Senior

Tyler Uphouse brought home Miller with a sacrifice fly.
SU led 3-2 entering a zany ninth inning in which the two teams combined for 12 runs and 10 hits. Among the run-scoring hits for the Raiders was a two-run double by junior
Eric Herman, an RBI-single by sophomore
Sam Phillips, an RBI-single by Smith, another sacrifice fly by Uphouse and a two-run double from Kregeloh.
Concord (5-8), a strong regional opponent that went 29-9 last season, trailed 10-2 entering the bottom of the ninth. The Mountain Lions got an RBI single from Bret Blevins and then scored four more runs with two outs. Sophomore
Josh Scott came in to get the final out and record his first collegiate save.
Shippensburg is scheduled to open its home schedule on Saturday at 1 p.m. with a doubleheader versus Clarion.
